40-45 miles, but 4th story of a building on top of a largeeee hill ( I can see far enough that I lose vision to defraction than blockage from terrain). I'm going to be going with a mid-quality indoor antenna amplified. I think I should make it with that. I can hang it in a window (if I get a flat panel one) Your thoughts? I already ran the antennaweb. Looking forward to getting the broadcast channels in high def. The quality of the current campus television network leaves some (alot) to be desired. They're going TV via IP next year so might miss out on that. Upset I won't be able to get Monday night football on HD though. Espn does a great production but it screws those of use looking for it on broadcast TV. Oh well!

Get this one. Silver Sensor.

http://www.solidsignal.com/prod_display....CFQ8QagodVGCKPg

Designed by a European (UK) company. Licensed/offered over here by either Zenith or Phillips (not Terk's knockoff).

No amp required. Should do the trick indoor w/i 40 miles and even better if you can hang it in a window as you say.

Directional. Point it at the broadcast peak.

If you do amp it, a Channel Master 7775 or 7777 will do the trick. That is what I have at 60+ miles!

Next up might be a 2-bay.

For a quick check, see if you can tune in a local regular NTSC Analog UHF channel with your current TV and a UHF bowtie antenna. If you can, then it's highly likely that you'll be good to go, maybe even just using that UHF bowtie on the new ATSC set, but the Silver Sensor should do it.

D - both Direct TV and Dish offer HD locals (those that broadcast)as part of their packages.

I just installed this in my living room with the provided gain booster. Picked up all but one of the local digital broadcasts. It's going on the roof when I put up the christmas lights.

And the U-Verse installation on Saturday went smooth. It is up and running; so far, so good.
