That is what I did and it worked just fine for me. Waxing a non-skid will make it slippery and unsafe. Add some water to that and you could fall pretty hard.

Others market one also, but I know that this company makes theirs and is very supportive of boating.

Doggg; from the Tilex web page:

Tilex® Mold & Mildew Remover contains bleach (sodium hypochlorite)

Because sodium hypochlorite breaks down very rapidly, especially when it comes into contact with organic matter, the ingredients in Tilex® Mold & Mildew Remover won't harm septic systems. In fact, by the time the product reaches the septic system, it has essentially broken down into salt and water.

OK, so the FAQ was about septic systems, but regardless, it sounds bio-degradable to me, as I think there is organic matter on the boat (mold; bird droppings), and if I can speculate, in lake water too.

Besides, I think I have seen septic systems with cleaner water than what is in our marina. sick

But if it makes you feel any better, I'll ask Tilex.

In the mean time, review this if you have a concern:

http://en.allexperts.com/q/Occupational-OSHA-Environmental-1417/Bleach-used-household-cleaning.htm

Seems like it is safe as long as you don't drink the bottle of Tilex.

Of course their site is going to say it is fine...they make the stuff and WANT TO SELL their product. What else do you want them to say.

If Tilex would be biodegradable, it would be certified so the marketing team could jump all over it.

I got a reply from Tylex. The product is safe as it simply contains a small amount of bleach, and is rapidly neutralized by water.

Hmmm... what is the primary ingredient of lake water?

And what did I know?

Of course their site is going to say it is fine...they make the stuff and WANT TO SELL their product. What else do you want them to say.

- I guess everyone in sales is a liar then...

So every company that markets a product as being "green" must also be lying then.

That is a ridiculous statement...Tilex is not marketed as a "green" product. My point was, not sure why I am even explaining it, was that I was not saying manufacturers lie about their products, but that you always paint your product in a positive light.

Al - what is the deal? All I did was question a process you use. That is done by everyone on this board on every thread. I guess I do not understand your hostility.
