This past weekend I was too lazy to raise the outdrive a little higher and when backing the boat in, I cracked the lower half of the skeg off my Bravo 1 drive. Upon searching the net it appeared that the only fix was adding a skeg guard for around $125 or an expensive welding project.

I ended up coming across a link from Custom Boat Repairs that made the welding piece look easy. I called a local boat repair shop and the guy said that they would weld on a new skeg, on the boat, for $100. I ended up having it done and it lokos like a new drive. The paint and finishing was factory perfect.

I didn't take any pics and put the boat back in the water. I wanted to add this in case anyone was searching for options on repairing their skeg. Getting it fixed right, and by someone else, was the cheapest and best route in this case.

Who did the work?

I stopped down earlier in the week and noticed your boat was gone. Figured you pulled out to clean it up or work on it. Looks like the marina has filled in nicely in the last few weeks too. thumb

Bill's did the work.

We pulled the boat out and trailered it down to Chautauqua Lake for a few days. We really didn't boat much but had a great time. It's too much work to trailer around so we plan on staying in the dock for the rest of summer.

Sounds like a fun time!

We used to have a cottage out at Chautauqua, just got sold last year. I'm absolutely lost without the place this year. My buddy and I are planning on taking his grandpa's boat out there sometime this week. We might end up leaving it at my old neighbor's place in the water, as he's made that offer numerous times to me.

I like Lake Erie, but I've got a lot more memories out at Chautauqua.
