I will be flushing the Dexcool from yet another Impala on Saturday. But this time, it's older and the crud in the radiator is a little worse than others I have done.
So my question is this: Should I just flush it with a lot of water, or would one of those "Prestone Super Radiator Flush" bottles of stuff do any good? I have used the flush stuff before and never noticed a difference, but wondered if it would be needed this time. Anybody have any experience? Thanks.

Save your money on the Prestone.

There are 2 block drain plugs, only one of which is easily accessible. It is on the left hand side of the block, above the starter. It is a 3/8" pipe plug, which has a 9/16" head. Make sure you get that out, and make sure you flush the heater core. I access the heater core at the connection just above the water pump.

Lots of flushing, lot of water. You may have to do it again in the fall.

My flush kit attaches inline with the heater hose pretty easily on an Impala. I didn't think the Prestone flush stuff really did anything. I was wondering if lots o'water was the way to go. Thanks for the tip. Lucky for my Brother In Law, I work cheap and have lots of antifreeze!
