Thanks Ken.
Is the problem statewide or limited to certain areas?

Not an epidemic problem yet, but like the big one, it's coming.....

All we know is how bad they can be, they have been seen/identified in the Colorado River system (Lake Mead, Lake Havasu, etc).

Principal drinking water resevoir based lakes on, and those no where near or fed by the Colorado are nervous about what they can do once introduced. Those lakes and are taking novel means to protect the them from any introduction in the first place.

It's not like it's a widespred scourge, yet, but they're coming, big time, and the drinking water lakes and resevoirs are taking steps to protect their drinking water delivery (hardware) infrastructure, in some case by banning boating (a means that they 'could' be introduced.)

California specific sighting map.

Going up south to north along the coast of California the boundaries are: San Diego County (largest cluster of sightings), Orange County, LA County, then me in Ventura County. Santa Barbara County is blocked by the insert. Next up is San Luis Obispo County, then I'm not sure what's next up the coast. The largest county in CA to the east of LA Co. is San Bernadino County, and the area with the Colorado River Aqueduct running through it I believe is Riverside County.

kenhdog, you're correct.. that's Riverside county.. nice map, thanks for posting that...

It's amazing they have no natural predator to control them.

I've read where the biggest fear is if they get into Lake Powell, for the beauty(crustating on the natural canyon walls), and the Ca delta area for water distribution.

There has been 2 deaths directly attributed to the infestation when 2 Ca workers were diving in the aquaduct and somehow drowned.

I would have to think that once they've made inroads to the aquaduct, and they have, we're basically sunk! The cost to control (not eradicate) them will result in billions of dollars, increasing the cost to every person in the state..

No big deal. The gubinator will either borrow the funds from the future or rais the sales tax--or both!
