Wow, it's like the old gang is back together again. Great seeing familiar names. Best to all that are dealing with health issues. Same ole, same ole this way. Still boating on Lake Norman and have been boating with my new in laws that live in Charleston. Nice to see new scenery and be the passenger for a change. This site has been great and has been the source of 70% of what I have learned about boating not learned on the boat. I hope everyone is doing well.

Cycleboater....how has the big Cobalt been treating you?...think you switched over from Formula a few years back. Mine could probably use a little TLC again as its been a few years since she was spruced up. The admiral wants larger or a pontoon, has for years, but I still really like our 206...everything about her is 2nd nature now. I know I will lose that that "discussion" eventually though.

We recently flipped back to the north side of LKN after switching over from north to the south side back in '16. Was nice to learn about that side for a while, but this side feels like home; we know more people on this side. Let me know if you happen to hear of any Waverunners becoming available. We've kind of settled on Yamaha VX, but a little flexible. I just don't want too old so as to inherit as few maintenance issues as possible!

Athiker we are in very similar places. Wife has been pushing for new truck & boat. I am pretty content with what we have. Wouldn't mind new truck or boat but not ready to pay todays prices.

Our son (28) bought a Yamaha GP SVHO last summer & i was hooked.

Took me 8 months to find a new Yamaha FX SVHO.

We have been having a blast with them.

It was very difficult to find.

Good to hear you have been enjoying the Waverunner. I've ridden them but never owned one. If I was 28 that is the model I'd be looking to buy too! We are thinking the standard engines in the VX. They have decent features but top out at 53 mph or so...which is plenty fast to watch my guests and my kids' guests take off on!

I have toyed around with the idea of getting one higher powered one and one less so and put the guests on the lower powered one. It might even discourage racing since one would always clearly beat the other one, IDK. Doesn't seem to matter, since there aren't any around anyway...

VX would be a nice choice. One advantage is they run regular fuel.

Keep your checking inventory for all the dealers in your area, They don't even know what or when things are coming in. I got mine because someone ordered it last spring & when it didn't come in by end of summer they cancelled. When It showed up this February it went right on there inventory on website.

Thanks Kevin, I had no idea about the fuel. I will make some more calls this week and get on more waiting lists. What you said matches up with the one large dealer I visited in Charlotte. They don't know what or when they are getting anything in.

I guess I will sign up for Facebook too...everyone tells me Facebook Marketplace is the the place for used stuff these days and has outstripped Craigslist. We have managed to avoid FB to date, except for a couple years when we needed it for our daughters XC team info. My son found the most promising ones so far on FB MP, but that was before I realized how scarce these things have become so missed them as they didn't seem like much of a deal at first glance.

Any thoughts on the Yamaha "Cruiser" seats vs the regular seats?

I have been AWOL from the internet and social media since March when my wife broke her leg, which led to surgery and laying in bed for 3 months before she was allowed to put any weight on her foot at all. I became her caregiver and also took care of all her chores during this time, so not much time for anything else besides my part time work.

Since then, she has gone from crutches and a walker to a cane, and now is walking pretty well without any aides. Not bad for less than 2 months on her feet! Full recovery will take about a year, but she has been ahead of schedule due to consistent hard work.

Due to all of that, our boat has sat in the slip all spring and summer, and the engines are still winterized. We hope to fix that very soon and catch up on our boating time for the rest of the summer and fall.

In September, we are chartering a trawler and cruising the San Juan Islands with anther BABC family. Can't wait for that trip!

While trapped at home, I did get my 37 year old motorcycle cleaned up and running, and also bought a new adventure bike that is now my primary motorcycle. It let me have a little time away from being a caregiver and new toys to keep my mind occupied while not able to visit the boat.

Athiker I really like the Cruiser seat on mine. Much more comfortable.

The FX hull is much bigger & very stable.

Brother has a VX sport & it is way smaller & no where near as stable.

Just turned 68 yesterday. Life is good, and it sucks. Haven't been to the harbor once yet this year. Every weekend in the spring I was too busy or the weather sucked, and every weekend I could go it's 101 or more degrees out, and the humidity at the lake is horrible... 2 weeks ago tomorrow I had the rest of the teeth that hadn't already broken or fallen out of my mouth pulled out. Dentures suck. I've lost almost 20 pounds from simply not being able to eat. I'm just now finally able to chew a bit with the new dentures. The upper isn't too bad but the lower still hurts like a [censored]. Just now ate a cheese stick, first food I've been able to chew yet. Can't bite a piece off yet tho. They tell me 4 more weeks and a re-line should do the trick. Uh huh...

Figuring with the jacked up weather lately I'll be good to work on boats from labor day thru thanksgiving. Sad thing is, once I'm done and ready to float the thing, I'm not sure it'll be welcome here. Harbor owner keeps wondering out loud 'where I'm going to put it when it's done'. Oy...

Financially things are good, we're close to our 'semi' retirement. All of our old-age bennies have kicked in, almost all bills are paid off, and even with work slowing down we're banking more than we're spending. Overall can't complain. But, we've been working 15-17 hour days for so long - like 7 straight years now- that I'm not sure if we'll remember how to relax? Even frantically! I AM glad we thought ahead to buy all our retirement toys ahead of time. Now just need to use em!

Nice to hear from you FR . . . you know . . . you can get implants instead of dentures . . . I'm heading that route slowly but surely. One regret in life . . . I wished I took better care of my teeth when I was younger.

Sad to say that my boat is still winterized from last October. OHFM started travel baseball in January and it ended last week as they lost in the first round of the playoffs. They came in 4th place out of 24. He had the 2nd highest batting average and the highest steeling percentage on the team. He played centerfield and could pick off runners tagging up at 3rd and trying to get home from over 300 feet (fence is at 350 in CF). Football starts next week. OHSM swam this summer and got most improved in the 9-10 boys. He's not a competitive person like his brother but enjoyed his swimming. Between the two, we had stuff going every day of the week. I saw a person wearing a shirt that said, on my last day of living I want to watch a swim meet as they last forever.

We're heading to the lake tomorrow however not with the boat but that's okay as we have plenty of other stuff to do this week to relax. My wife still has some minor issues with her sickness last fall but overall she's doing pretty good considering where she once was.

The average price I've found for all-on-4's is $12 to $27 THOUSAND PER ARCH. I only had 8 upper and 2 lower teeth above the gumline 2 weeks ago, so I needed an all-out fix. I'd love a full set of implants but not for that kind of money...

On Holiday we just got our boat in the water for the first time this weekend. Probably latest ever. We have put 20 hours on the waverunner already & did a week of house boating though. August, September & October are usually bigger boating season for us. Trying to head down as much as possible from now until weather runs out.

Congrats on the swimming & baseball seasons. Had friends that did the travel baseball thing & said it was the worst boating seasons of there lives. None of there kids play ball any more but they all own boats. LOL

This year his travel was limited to the county, basically the same teams he'll play in high school next spring. He wants to go on a real travel team next spring, this year that team went to Georgia for a week and they also play in Florida. I'm for it however we need to get mom on board.

Sounds like a great experience for him.

One of wife's co workers son was just in the Dominican Republic for a week for travel baseball. Said it was an incredible experience.
