Hiked 36 miles last weekend in the Sawtooth Wilderness with no bucks to be seen. Drove a dirt road on Thursday and filled my first tag of the year. My actual hunt, as agreed upon with my wife, was done so no passing things up. It's small, but it's tasty. Dove season opens tomorrow and I'll go antelope and elk hunting in October.

Mostly done for the year. Took the buck above, 2 antelope in Wyoming and a bull elk in the mountains of Hells Canyon last week. Full freezer and already thinking about next year's opportunity.

Would like to get some birds in the next 2 months. Monday the kids are in school and I am off. I think some quail hunting is in order. Or maybe grouse.

Hey look, 2020 hunting season is about here. Dove season opens in 2 weeks and we can always hunt eurasian doves. I did recently buy a pellet gun for those specifically is they can be taken any time in any manner in any amount.

Draws were tough this year. Fortunately we can always buy over the counter tags for elk and deer.

Son is excited about hunting this year. He has a deer (any sex) tag and an elk tag. I have 2 deer tags and an elk tag. I didn't draw any antelope tags for this fall which was a bummer as it is my favorite game meat and game hunt.

We have 8 more draw that we submitted for including a couple extra tags. We could certainly end up with a few more tags. It's going to be busy. Last year, my deer season started August 15th. This year it looks like October 10 so almost all that hunting will be October 10 - November 10.

I do have some whitetail tags for Wyoming, but will likely not make the drive for them. We'll see.

I love hunting, but I love eating it and that's the primary reason for my hunting. This is antelope mixed with 20% pork back fat. Made a great pan fried burger the other day. Might be a little heavy on the fat for the grill. We will see.
