2 Carnival Cruise ships collide in Cozumel. Not the kind of public relations they would be looking for. Interesting to see what the fall out will be. One ship appears to have sustained some pretty serious damage.

I always wondered if these big ships have docking issues.

Here is another video of the incident: youtube

A member of the cruise industry described this as a "fender bender". I think I concur with that. If that was my boat and it got that much damage it would be totaled. On a boat that size it's not much.

Would have to guess the damage is going to force them to take the boat out of current use. If so imagine lots of people who had trips booked for the holidays are not going to be very happy.

Looked like the damage was to a viewing area/deck. I bet they band-aid that up and push through at least for a while. That's a pretty big chunk of change to cancel even 1 cruise.

Turns out it's a portion of the Main Dining Room. The next sailing has already happened, they are making repairs as they go along with no changes planned to the itinerary.

Those ships can’t sit. They lose too much money. They will repair as they keep moving.
