I had the opportunity to spend a weekend at my lake house by myself. It was a great time to get a way for a few days, complete some house projects as we didn't have a renter, and to have a little RNR.

Early morning fog off the warmer water

Did some kayaking

I actually needed to go to a house to see a rock retaining wall that someone did as we would like to get a similar wall built at the house. My GPS said by car it would be a 25 minute drive. Turns out the house was across the lake from my house and it only took me 20 minutes to paddle.

On the way I saw this boat.

That evening there was a lighted boat parade that started near our friend's house. There were about a dozen boats in all. The sailboat had tons of lights up the mast. I guess they were powered by wind as well.

On the way home I went for a 3 mile hike up at a place called Peaks of Otter. In the background you can see the lake which is about an hour's drive away.

Looks like a great weekend. Nice pictures - thanks for sharing. Warms me up looking at the nice pictures while we have -11 wind chill in Chicago today.

Nice pics and beautiful boat you saw.

Glad the weekend and weather worked out for you.

Also glad to see your kayak's safety consciousness in wearing its PFD. wink

Don't ya just love those weekends when you can get away and not be tugged on by the desires of others. You get up when you want, eat what and when you want, go where and when you want, see what you want to see, etc.

Thanks for taking us along.

I've been waiting years to use this joke. Jack, this is in response to your typo.....

Hulk Hogan, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Lopez were all having lunch together.

Hulk said, “I have always thought that I’m the strongest man in the world, but how can I be sure?”

Brad Pitt said, “I’m pretty sure I’m the hottest man alive but I’ve never confirmed it.”

J-Lo agreed. “I’m told I’m the sexiest of them all, but some times I wonder.”

They all decided that the best way to find out if their beliefs were true was to approach the Wicked Queen’s mirror to confirm for themselves whether Hulk Hogan was the strongest, Brad Pitt was the hottest and J-Lo was the sexiest.

They agreed to meet again the next day for lunch to discuss their findings.

The next day Hulk walked up with a smile. “Well, it’s true. The mirror told me I am the strongest man in the world.”

J-Lo walked in and boasted “It is true, it has been confirmed that I am the sexiest woman in the world.”

Brad Pitt walked in, head bent, tears in his eyes and said “Who the heck is this GFC guy? “

Those are some great pictures. Looks like a great time.
You probably spent more time on the water in that one weekend than I spent all year.

BTW GFC, We'll need pictures from your upcoming Christmas parade. I expect to see a magic mirror theme for your boat.

My wife teaches water aerobics at the local health club. The pay is terrible however she gets a free membership and the hours are pretty flexible. The job started off as two classes a week, one at 5:30 and another at 6:30 and home before the kids head to school. She has been taking on more classes as she enjoys the classes. She keeps asking me if she should teach more and I say do what you want however don't make the extra classes prohibit you fro taking some lake time for yourself. It didn't take her long to book a week in December and invited some friends. I told her this isn't a party weekend as you still have a room to finish painting and to remove some floor tile.

Justi, you know the old saying about everything on your boat is about to break, it's just a matter of when. Well we were down decorating the boat this week. I turned on the head so Tina could use it and when she flushed it the pump kept running. And running. And.....

The mechanic and I are meeting down there Friday morning to fix it. Funny thing, when I told him about it his first comments were along the line of "I don't do heads" and "I don't do stinky stuff".

I have a set of duckbill valves that I have had on the boat for years waiting for this time. At least we don't have to wait for parts.

After that, yes, I will post photos. The theme is the same as last year but I don't think I posted any photos of it. So, the guessing game begins.
