If you are like me, you despise the new EPA/CARB compliant fuel cans (they are useless). My understanding is they are designed to prevent fuel vapors from escaping. Well, for me, I end up pulling the damn spout off and use a funnel and probably release way more vapors than I did before these ingenious contraptions were mandated. Anyway, YouTube is full of videos on how to defeat these stupid devices. I found this one to be particularly entertaining: YouTube video. Give it a go if yo have a few minutes to kill.

Awesome video. Agree with it 100%. With the old tanks, I never spilled gas. Now I’m spilling all kinds of gas (in the lake) with these “more safer” gas cans. An example of our government stepping in and making things worse.

If you are transferring fuel from a can you need one of these.

lol!

I just bought one of those 1 gal gas containers to replace the previous one that had cracked at the seam!

I agree that spring loaded trigger nozzle SUCKS!....

They even changed the threads on the new container so the flex nozzle from the cracked container wont fit/transfer....

Oh - and in the video, I noticed that he indeed spilled some water (gas) out of that added vent hole when getting ready to pour.... funny

I have looked at these new containers, but not long enough to decide to purchase. I did try to figure out how to use them and walked away.

I wasn't aware that parts are available to complete the conversion. I'll need to look into that.

Personally, I would add an extension hose to be sure there is no splash and easier to handle large containers. Might not work on a car or trucks with the flapper in the fuel filler pipe. But for other vehicles and boats, it would help a lot. Use a larger hose to increase transfer rate. That's what I see on trailers with PWC and dirt motorcycles and gardeners out here in So Cal.

I second this. Use one at our friends lake house to transfer from 5 gallon cans to jetski and boat. I am terrified of dropping an entire can of gas into the lake with the awkward angle of trying to hold it up to the fill spout. This takes all the stress out.

The only drawback of siphoning tools is that the "from" container must be higher than the container being filled (head).
Greater distance between the two produces more head, resulting in a faster transfer.

I acquired a few 5 gallon gas cans so I can fill my boat at the dock. I used it first filling my lawn mower and more spilled out than what went in. I took the spout off my older can and was successful in adding fuel to my boat at the dock.
