I’ve been a “member” since I got my 2004 cobalt 220. I still have the boat and when I bought the boat I made the decision to buy my second boat first...if that makes sense. But one of the things that strikes me is that even though I don’t post much anymore, I always keep this site bookmarked and almost daily look at the new topics. What I like, and have always liked, is the helpfulness without the snark. I can say that about very few forums I follow...congrats to the moderator and the many helpful members for patiently responding to repetitive questions and providing helpful advice for boaters old and new.

I follow a raptor forum...completely juvenile. A Harley forum...hmm...not very tolerant. About the only forum I follow that is similar in decency is a Honda cb1100...great advice and great stories of travel...similar to here where you get some interesting travel stories about the Columbia river and places I will likely never go.

So...thank you!

This is a super friendly helpful forum. Nice to see a familiar face return.

I'm like Senoj….I don't post much on here but I do check for new threads or posts every other day or so. Great place to hang out, but I'm not sure I'd want to hang out in a place that would allow the likes of me to hang out here.

I also check in here most days. The only other forum that I look at daily is one for Trojan boats, and it is also a nice place to be.

Glad to see others are still interested. I would be dismayed to find BABC missing! Thanks to Admin for providing such a great forum!

I continue to lurk. The forum keeps boating on my brain, just as the Boating Magazine I keep renewing but dont read as much.

A boating forum that is primarily aimed at the PNW has gone down the tube. Or sank, or swallowed the anchor, whatever you want to call it.

Unlike BABC, that one had a moderator/owner whose word was the law, he had more knowledge about boating than anyone else in the whole world and he was not ashamed to tell you how great he was.

I'm glad to see BABC is still above water. The water levels on the Great Lakes is at or near all time highs. Nice to see that BABC is still afloat.

Looking at the join dates of those that posted above, all are 15 years plus.

A lot has happened in those 15-16 years.

I come back on occasion as well, when other things don't get in the way. Sometimes a week, sometimes a month.

Sadly that means my boat is 15 years older, my kids have grown up, I’m a grandfather ( how is that possible).

What I will say is that I do still have the same boat as when I joined BABC. I’m not sure about the build quality of Cobalt now, given that they are not independent, but my boat has been fantastic. I a touch anal, like many on this forum so I really have trouble telling the condition of my boat, inside and out, from a new boat. The only thing that has gone wrong was some oil consumption problems but mercury replace the long block immediately...oh...my tach doesn’t work...that’s it.

I check here almost every day. One of these days something good might happen in my boating life and I'll post up more.

This season came and went like a bolt of lightning. Again. I worked on the big lizzy every weekend, hellbent on getting it in the water this season but the cold weather came too fast. I'm about 4 hours from ready to apply coal tar, but it's too cold. I still have new parts to install, I'll be doing that whenever time & weather permits...And then there's the boat trailer, needs axle bearings. Ever change axle bearings on a semi-trailer? Everything's 8x as big! And heavy! ouch

FR, as the official BABC Fleet Admiral you should know by now that if you want to get some boating in you're gonna have to hire some of that work done.

C'mon Man, did you ever see a photo of Hyman Rickover painting on a submarine?

The only real help I've needed was with the hull, but nobody wanted my money. Last summer I called the only 3 dustless sandblasting companies in the area, 2 didn't answer nor returned my calls, the one who did answer said there wasn't enough room under the boat for him to work, but he'd reach out to some others in the biz he knew and he or they would get back to me...

I use to post frequently but since my boat has transmorgrified into a fifth wheel I'm no here as much. I use to post lots of questions not even remotely related to boating knowing someone on the forum would be familiar with what I was asking and would help me out in a friendly manner. When others posted off topics that I had experience with I chimed right in.

I still lurk....rarely post on any of the forums I frequent anymore. Think I joined this board 6 boats ago...and noticed I need to update my signature. That's from two boats ago!

16 years and counting on this forum! Same boat here as well, pretty much everything else has changed though...'cept the wife. thumb Boat has been solid overall, a few issues lately but hoping to have a good 2020 summer with her.

I am donating the '99 Isuzu Trooper, that I used to pull the boat from IL to NC over a decade ago, before the end of this year though. It still starts and runs pretty nice but I never drive it anymore and don't feel like replacing and updating everything on it that probably should be...like timing belt, brakes, brake lines, etc. to make it safe for any of the kids. AWD stopped working long ago and no one around here seems to know how to fix it, not to mention the terrible MPG. Will miss it though...good times. Fortunately we have enough friends and neighbors around now to borrow a vehicle whenever I need to pull the boat out...usually just once every other year or so.

We only had 2 kids when I joined here and my oldest was 3...now I have 1 in college....Go Tigers! (the nat'l champ ones wink ), 1 about to be...Go Heels!...and the the unborn one is a H.S. freshman...truly crazy.

I still like checking in as well, but its a little random these days. Loved this place the first years after getting our boat, super useful to me....thanks for keeping it around.

I came back today - similar to others I joined in 2003 and in those days I would be on here for seemingly hours at a time. The world has changed. I still have boats, but got into airplanes for awhile, then spent a lot of time at Garage Journal. Like others, my kids are grown.

I sneaked back in today to see what is up.
