After years of searching and contemplating, we purchased a new house for the boat.

Nice, welcome to the club. We have ours on the rental program which basically pays the mortgage.

We purchased the house on Norris Lake, TN. Heading down Thursday night to close escrow Friday. Stay the weekend and fly home Monday. Will post more pics this weekend.
Our daughter lives about an hour away so she will be there on weekends until we move.

Congrats.

Is this a vacation home, rental property, full time home, or future retirement home?

This will be our retirement home early next year. It sits on 1.2 acres and cannot see the neighbors. It has a stream running along the property line so it is very peaceful which is what we were looking for.

Congrats on your retirement.

Would this location be a full four-season weather cycle with rain, snow (cold) and sunshine (warm)?
How far to the closest Home Depot or fully stocked hardware and lumber yard, Costco, grocery, medical offices, hospital?

All the above would be my concern list.

Mark, nice digs. All those things Jack mentioned are "nice to have close by" items, but they pale in comparison to having a nice cottage home that overlooks the lake you boat on.

Need any other volunteers to babysit the house and boat until you retire? Oh, and like James mentioned, we'll need to know the directions to the house and any codes to access the boat and the location of the boat keys.

Jack,
Home Depot is approx. 45 minutes, 30 minutes to the food supermarket, doctors and hospitals are about 30 minutes.

Here is another view

Not sure GFC. May need a bigger boat. I want to add another boat for fishing, a couple of kayaks, a couple of paddle boards and another jet ski.
Heading out tonight from LA and arrive 9:30 tomorrow morning, off to sign escrow papers them take my wife shopping at Costco etc.
Good God, I had no idea she would want all new stuff along with remodeling the kitchen and bathrooms. They all look fine to me. idn
I am in the middle of a remodel right now, 3 bathrooms, 20ft x 12 ft walk in closet and our bedroom in our CA house.
Last year we remodeled the kitchen and downstairs bathrooms. I am done with construction.
I just wanna fish.
