In the trailer section is the 'is this trailer big enough?' thread, and I got to thinking- The Regal, a, '02 2860 Commodore, owned it for 3 years and I've never done much research on the thing aside from locating the correct owners manual for it (It came with FOUR manuals, all for different Regals)...

So I get on NADA to find out what the thing weighs-- 7800 pounds-- that all? Thought a 28' x 10' beam boat would weigh more than that. Maybe it does, but I'll take their word for it...

Then I add in some canvas and other options, and the LOW price right now comes in at more than we paid for it! So, not upside down! smile

Then in a tiny number column I notice the number "31"... 31 what, feet? Really? And here I've always thought it was a 28 footer. Not sure if the anchor pulpit and or the diving deck is part of that figure... The old Sun Runner, Ultra 252, as physically large as that boat seemed to be, was only listed as a 23 footer... Guess I need to get out the measuring tape to be sure, but hey, if NADA says it's 31 feet, who am I to argue ? laugh

I do notice in ads that some sellers call it a 28, others a 31...

Whatever it is, I'm happy. And I know the 3-axle trailer should hold it up okay wink

But I'd be happier if I was actually using the thing... cry

Get the hull ID number and contact Regal for translation. Obviously, they are the best authority on your boat. Ask the right questions, and you will get definitive information. Might only take 5 minutes--then you can rest.

Have a great day of boating

If it makes you feel any better, Pier Pressure was a 10 meter boat which works out to 32 feet, but the marina charged us for 37 feet which was the bow pulpit and swim platform added on.
When being charged for storage by the foot, it's better to use the Waterline length, but when bragging about how big you are, it's better to use the exaggerated numbers cool ho

My first boat was a 18 footer, because the waterline included a molded in swim platform it really only had the interior space of a 17 footer.
I'd much rather pay for a 28 foot boat, but have the usability of a 31 footer, than get charged for 31 feet when your space actually 28. I guess selling time you say it's 31 feet overall and charge by the foot.idn

I've got vacation in October so If you really want us to, we'll snag the Regal and tow it to Powell and use it. Can't let it sit unused
