We took delivery of our 3rd and final "last boat" this week. She is a 2019 Regal 2800 with a Volvo 380 DP. It is amazing how different and improved this boat is compared to our previous boat (2007 Regal 2700, VP 8.1).

I have always been in the "you need a big block" camp, and was apprehensive about going with a small block, but GM's 6.2 LS engine is simply amazing. It is not as smooth as the old 8.1, but it gets the boat on plane quickly and is very responsive at all throttle positions. The "fly by wire" throttle is easy to use and has a nice feel. The "auto trim" feature is nice and works well. The Garmin 7610 is super cool, but is a bit of a waste on our inland lake. The best feature of all is the bow thruster - makes docking on windy days much easier.

A few photos are listed below (some from the dealer back in March, and a few from delivery day this week).

Congrats - Very nice looking boat. Really a big fan of the mostly white hull with accent stripe.

Congrats! I drove a boat (Cobalt R5) with that exact engine and drive last weekend. Throttle response was impressive. It also had a really nice growl when I opened up the throttle. LS motors are excellent.

Cngrats. Not sure about how it fits on the trailer, though. Are you going to use a storage service with no need for a trailer. Or, maybe one the right size is yet to be delivered.

The trailer in the pic from the launch ramp is a "yard trailer" from the dealer. A custom made trailer is on order with a "cow catcher" style bow stop that allows for clearance with the windlass. It should look a lot like this one:

Based on measurements, the new boat is actually a few inches shorter than the old boat (arch in the down position). LOA is about the same. Fingers crossed that she fits when the time comes.

Very nice looking. I've always admired Regal's line of boats.

My 2400 just fits in my garage by the width of 2 of my skinny fingers. The weatherstripping around my garage frame would just touch. The first time we backed the boat in it took 45 minutes, I finally ended up removing the 3/4" trim around the garage to give me an extra 1.5" of clearance and now can back the boat in from the street in one motion.

Surely, we all have had reason at one time or another to have this feature, or even hundreds of times.

My son has a f150 with the back up assist. We played with it a couple of times & have not touched it since. After backing up boat, jet ski, camper & snowmobile trailers for 30 years I don't have any problems.

And I had it on my 2016 F150...never bothered setting it up. Great sales pitch though!

I'm sure backup assist is great for some, but really I just do what my Dad told me over 30 years ago...put my hand at the bottom of the wheel, then the back of the trailer moves in whatever direction you move your hand...pretty much the same as the assist knob. smile Other keys are make small adjustments and go slow...pretty much it.

Nice boat Dock, I've always liked the lines of Regals...enjoy!
