Wife has been working the credit card points system like a woman possessed. She has studied the different option with the various credit card issuers. I keep a cheat sheet in my wallet that tells me what to use when. We purchase gift cards from Walgrens or CVS to make purchases from Home Depot and Amazon and others as it gets us more points.

Well it paid off. We are travelling from Oklahoma City to Dublin, Ireland round trip for an out of pocket expense of $271.00.

We are renting a car at the airport and then staying in Dublin for two nights. Then we head south to county Cork and travel clockwise around the Emerald Island. We will be staying mostly in AirBNB's and some traditional BnB's.

I will have to learn how to drive on the opposite side of the road and shift with my left hand. That will be fun.

My wife has me on a budget of four beers a day, which of course will all be done when we are in for the night and can walk from the pub to our room.

If anyone has any wisdom to toss my way, go for it.

PH, sounds like a lot of fun is in store for you. I had to learn to drive on the wrong side of the road a few years ago when we went to Turks & Caicos in the British Virgin Islands. The most difficult part for me was figuring out how the roundabouts work. What a mess.

Have a great trip.

Maybe do Blarney Castle if crowds are thin. Drive to Dingle and check in at BnB.

Day 5, 6, 7: Two nights in Dingle.
Ring of Kerry, Dingle Peninsula, Dick Macks brew house, Kilarney, Muckross.

Day 8, 9, 10: Doolin:

Well I guess I should give an update...

The trip went very well, with the exception of my wife coming down with the flu towards the last.

We flew into Dublin and got to our rental car, a Dacia economy car with a 1K cc motor and five gears. About the cheapest vehicle available in Ireland. We had the letter from Chase bank that prove insurance coverage in Ireland and that saved us several hundred bucks.

We had unlocked our cell phones and while in the car rental lot we had ATT put us on an international data plan for a bit until we could pick up a SIM card from "Three" a local cell phone company. This allowed us to use our navigational tools we were used to. Driving on the left side of the road is not difficult if there are two of you. It helps to have a co-pilot at first to keep things safe. Lots of signs telling you which side of the road you should be on. You can also get placards to stick on your car that let folks know you are a hazard to navigation.

We spent two day in Dublin, using a B&B and the city bus service. Folks were very friendly. Dublin at one time was one of the largest Whisky distilling cities in the world, but now only has two, only one of which ages their product on site, Teelings.

I will update later....take care... feel free to ask questions...

The funny thing was everywhere we went folks would ask us which part of the USA we were from. When we told them Oklahoma their eyes would light up and they would sing our state song. Apparently the play "Oklahoma" has been very popular over there. They even have an Irish version of it.
