FR, the angle of the ramp and how far you are in will depend on how hard you get off the bunks.

We came back as a family last night, I came back after 10 days while my wife and boys came back after being there for 18 days. Once I get caught up with work I will post some updates with pictures.

After church we went to a familiar cove for a swim. This is where the second mate swam by himself for the first time with the use of a life jacket.

Of course you need to swim around the boat for the first time

Legend has it that the house in the background is owned by an author and they have horses.

My father joined us for a few days and he flies remote control airplanes, I flew RC planes as a teenager as well. He brought with him a plane that has many take-offs and landings from the ground however not from water. The lake was calm and there were no boats on the water so he decided to do some flying.

He did a few taxi runs to see how the plane would track however when the engine got up to speed the prop would spray water into the engine and stall it. Being the great son that I am, I went for a swim.

Our second mate has been on many boat rides however only a handful have been while awake.

Since we all like to hear real life stories and not just the good times while on the water. Here is mine.

According to this towel, my home is 25 feet under the surface of the water along with about 10 feet of chain. My brother and sister-in-law are scuba divers however they only had masks and fins as they flew into town. The water wasn't clear enough to see more than 8 feet and we couldn't get down that far without tanks or weights.

So far this lake has taken a contact lens, my wife's sunglasses, and our anchor however we have taken many lasting memories.

One thing that we are finding out about this lake the more we are there our the chances of pop-up afternoon thunder storms. Thankfully they only last about 30 minutes, during one storm the temperature dropped from 92 degrees to 68 degrees. Once the storm passes the heat and humidity return.

Here is a picture of the sunset from our deck.

Our next visit to the lake will be Labor Day as we have renters enjoying the house in August and our annual Raystown Lake trip.

More great photos and milestones (first swim w/o the pfd). That is what makes boating a lifestyle, not just a hobby.

Hobbies are like Dad's airplanes....one person having all the fun, the rest are watching. Lifestyles are where everyone joins in.

Funny, Admiral was looking at buying that same pillow smile

I am glad you guys are enjoying the condo. We are enjoying our 8th year of a lake condo. Ours is in a small development with a pool and deeded slips. Its 50 minutes from our full time home.

Our neighbor made us a very nice offer for our unit so they can have two units next door to each other for family weekends. We gave it serious consideration and looked at around 20 waterfront houses. After much thought, discussion and house hunting, we are pretty sure that we are going to decline the offer. A house would be nice, but we have grown very accustomed to the lock and leave aspect of the condo ownership. We like going to the lake and relaxing and getting away from most of the responsibilities of single family home ownership.

The lock and leave aspect is nice however I am a hands on type of individual. We are responsible for some exterior maintenance however I have no lawns to mow. Labor Day I will be staining my deck, technically it is not my responsibility however when my youngest gets a sliver in his foot it quickly becomes my responsibility to care for his well being. I told the president that I will be staining the deck over LDW and he gave me his blessing. I envy your 50 minute drive as mine is 6.5 hours. Living that close I would consider living their full time unless work is 50 minutes the opposite direction.

Yeah, I do random small projects helping out around the development. We are fortunate to have a retiree full-timer that LOVES doing projects. The association funds the materials and he goes to town. Our house keeps me busy otherwise.

50 minutes is nice. Work is actually almost exactly half way between home and the condo. Easy commute from the lake. My wife and I would have moved to the lake years ago, but our children were firmly entrenched in our neighborhood and schools. I only have one at home now with 4 years of school left, so we will be revisiting full-time lake living again. I honestly have have mixed feelings about it. Going up to the lake on the weekends is still special. I wonder if it would be the same if we lived there year round.

Our oldest turned 9 over the weekend and for his birthday he wanted to spend the weekend at the lake house and bring along his best friend (who happens to be moving out of state in another month). The boys had fun however it was very tiring for mom and dad.

I am a runner and wanted to go for a run before the day really got started. The morning started off cool (36*) however it was very pleasant later in the morning. My wife just hung a picture that says "Go jump in the lake" so this is what I did. I have a video however it isn't cooperating with me now. Of course my two little shadows jumped in as well. We all got our heads wet.

Friends from back home just purchased a lake house about 20 minutes by car and 10 minutes by boat from ours. Saturday was moving day so we stopped by for a quick visit. It is bittersweet as they were our main source of rental income this past summer.

Sunday evening we arrived back home around 5pm and I sent our friends a text stating we just got home (sort of like completing a float plan). Their response was, the lake is too beautiful, haven't left yet. They have 4 children (3 girls, one boy) ages 14 to 10.

They are looking into a pontoon boat and starting the search now and asking lots of questions.

I will be back in a couple of weeks on a solo trip so I can just relax, my admiral will do a similar trip in December.

I haven't updated this thread in a few years however a lot has changed since then. We enjoyed this house for 4 years however we wanted to get out of a property owner's arrangement where the association can raise the fees on a whim to our own single family abode. We found a few on our bucket list so we decided to place the townhouse up for sale last fall as we had to sell first in order to purchase another piece of property. The townhouse sold in February 2019 so we had to move our possessions out into storage. Storage for us happened to be a friend's 3 car garage about 5 miles away. After many pickup truck loads of stuff we had the place cleaned and ready for the new owners to move in. It was a very sad day for me moving out however I kept reminding myself of the big picture.

Living 6 hours from the lake makes it tough to drive down on a whim to look at property as many went off the market just before we would head to the lake to look. We ended up placing an offer on a house however we couldn't meet in the middle and there were dock issues. We finally found a place to call home and should be closing mid June. This house has some plusses and minus as any property will. The plusses is a two boat slip as many newer docks you can only have one slip. This will allow us to keep our boat in one slip and our renters use the other slip. At the townhouse we had to pull the boat and park it on the hard each time. Another plus is we have 16' of water at the end of the dock. The lake can be down 5' in the fall so we can still get our boat in and out with no problems. The minus is the property has a few steps from the dock to the house as the back yard is not level, the front yard is flat as Kansas. We also need to replace the carpet in two bedrooms and paint the walls.

The fun part will be getting our possession out of storage in a very short window of time as renters will be moving out by 10 am and new renters will be moving in after 3 pm. We will have to move quick to get our stuff.

We've been juggling closing date with getting our mortgage completed, the sellers making necessary repairs, and a Friday where we can close and have the weekend to move in. It has been fun, thankfully my admiral has been handling most of the logistics.

I'll post some pictures once the house and dock is 100% ours.

We have our stuff moved into the house and now we need to go back and organize. We are all tired and wondering what we did because of all the work that we needed to do this weekend.

I'm still trying to catch up on my sleep. OHA is at the lake now getting the place organized while OHFM, OHSM and myself are home playing baseball games this weekend.

I did get a paddle board for Christmas and here we are pumping it up.

We have our lake house rented for 4 weeks this summer so that will start bringing some cashflow back into our bank accounts. Pretty much a week's worth of rent pays for one month's mortgage. Next year we hope to have the place rented for most of the summer. We were down the weekend of July 4th, it was a work weekend as I removed a dishwasher and installed a dishwasher and did some other minor plumbing repairs. The boat is still winterized and stored in my garage and hope to bring it down to the lake in August. Pretty much our spring and early summer was taken up by baseball and purchasing the house. I would be lying if I didn't think that I miss our other lake house a little however we are making this house more ours as we spend time in it.
