Hi guys, guy on my Mustang forum recommended this site. I've got a 91 Larson with a 3.0 Mercruiser Alpha One, my dad bought it new and it has only 212 hrs. Long story short it overheated and cracked the head. Found a replacement head, replaced impeller and thermostat. Boat runs great and cool now. My son used it for 2 solid days and then on the 3rd day it wouldn't shift into forward, just revs. How do I adjust the shift cable? Did many searches. The adjustment barrel is pinned in place. Everyone says its a specific process to follow, but no one will say what it is!! Help!!

It’s tough to explain unless you do it everyday. Manuals have the procedure in them (clymers,etc). YouTube has some vids as well.

It adjusts on both ends, at the shift lever and out back on the engine...

'won't shift into forward' is a bit thin to go on, could be more than just an adjustment needed--

does reverse work? Any 'thumping' like gears are engaging but no movement? Does the shifter move freely thru it's full range of motion?
