We spent last week at our lake house for some vacation time, we purposely went the week after Independence Day in order to avoid the crowds on the water. What a smart decision as the lake was so empty compared to other years when we went over the holiday.

My day involved going for a run before the family wakes up (I am training to run a marathon this fall), then would cool myself off in the lake by swimming a 1/4 mile each morning. We also would go on kayak rides each morning before the lake started to wake up. The boys kept me hopping with some extended daddy time and lots of swimming at the pool or off the back of the boat.

The boys made a sand hole, they thought they reached China however it was only about a foot deep.

There is a small GA airport about 2 miles as the crow flies so many small aircrafts are flying over the water, this particular Cessna 180 was flying on the water. At one point I was telling my wife "hit it" as I was water skiing and this plane is picking a spot to land. We were far enough apart so there was no danger and was neat to see as I am coming out of the water, the plane is landing on the water. We drove to the airport and clicked this picture.

Our oldest did lots of tubing even though he has a broken arm from about 2 days post end of school year. You can see our youngest in one of his favorite positions.

It also happens to be my happy place (vacation so I didn't shave too much)

One night we went out to eat lake side, our boat is in the background.

We got a late start for dinner as we didn't leave the house until 6:30 and had about a 30 minute ride to dinner, the whole time I was thinking we need to be back home by 9 so we get back home before it's too dark. We got home at 8:45 with plenty of light remaining even though I had my nav lights lit.

My youngest loves waterfalls and slides, we happened to see both at two different houses.

We will be back down in about 3 weeks for another week's vacation. We had a relaxing time as many days I didn't know what day it was and that was alright with me.

Great pictures. Can't believe how much your kids have grown. We were down on Bull Shoals lake for the 4th of July week & had a great time as well. Only problem is it goes by way too fast.

Your picture reminds of one time we stopped at one of the marinas on our lake to get ice cream & this was getting fueled up.

What a great family vacation!

I am jealous of the smooth water as our lake gets crazy rough (partly due to the knuckle heads with 25-35' boats that drive around at the speed between between idle and on plane).

We were anchored near a beach the other weekend when we were buzzed by a Grumman Goose (at tree top level)- he made two low passes before leaving the area. I was really hoping he would land as that would have been killer to watch. Not sure if he was only doing a fly by, or if he decided it was too busy to land. idn

Regarding the smooth waters, we now don't typically go out on the weekends as it is often too busy and rough.

Nice pics, it's good to see your second mate getting full use of the deck.

OH, not sure how I missed this thread but thanks for taking us along on your vacation. Oh, I just looked at the date. We were in Europe between the 7th and 22nd of June. That's my excuse and I'm sticking with it. Thanks again. And Kevin was spot on with his comment about how big the boys are getting. Amazing how that works.

The boys are getting big, we need to stop feeding them. We just came back from another 10 days at the lake. Pictures and more details to follow. Will be back at the lake for Labor Day which is just a few weeks away.
