Our yacht club is known up and down the Columbia for being the most fun club on the river. We have a full schedule of parties, cruises and other fun events throughout the year.

Today was the Annual Pizza Pigout for 2018. This started several years ago when one of the members who owns a pizza franchise decided to "sponsor" an event where pizza was served (for a nominal fee) and everyone had a good day on the water. It started out with $5 medium pizzas offered to the participants. They would go boat to boat taking orders and collecting the $5, then phone them in to the main store. When the pizzas were cooked someone from the store would deliver them down to the dock and a couple of members would deliver they via dinghy out to the boats.

The first couple of years there were about a dozen boats attending. The number now varies from year to year but this year it looked like there were 42 boats present. Well, 43 if you count our Whaler. The price for the pizzas has gone up to $10 but that's still a good buy. Oh, and did I mention that for the past several years there has been a band providing music?

Here's a video I took today. Doesn't look like anyone is having any fun, does it.

Wow pizza & boating - what a winning combination. Closest we ever get is having cold left over pizza on the boat for lunch. Looks like a great time.

For us it was a bit strange this year because we didn't have Beachcomber there. The friend (and fellow club member) who went with me to take Beachcomber to Portland last week let us join them on their boat for our "headquarters". We showed up on the Whaler after everyone was all tied up and left about the time the pizzas were delivered because we were meeting some friends for dinner on shore.

It was a fun afternoon. I did an accidental double back flip off a floatie and ended up in the drink. That was good for a few laughs and I must admit the water did feel pretty good. If you figure about 5 people average per boat and 42 boats, that's over 200 friends out there enjoying the sunshine, hot weather and warm water.

What a great way to spend a day.

Kevin, no word yet on the progress. I left the boat last Wednesday. He was going to do some in-water testing of that trans to see what happened. Then they were going to lift it out of the water and see what they could find. I haven't gotten a call back from him yet so no new news. I'm not surprised because he's busier than all get out and he's fitting my work into his schedule. I told him I'd rather have it fixed correctly than quickly. This summer is pretty well shot for boating so another month or so isn't going to kill me.

PH, I wish. As I went boat to boat I saw a LOT of eye candy. The Pizza Pigout attracts a lot of people who are not members of the club but are friends of members. It's those friends who are often in their 20's and 30's and most look pretty darn good in their itsy, bitsy, teeny, tiny bikinis.
