We use Navionics on Android phone and tablet -- it is outstanding!

BlueChart is no longer available from Garmin. It has been replaced by ActiveCaptain which is nice if you have a recent Garmin chartplotter with current maps. If not, it is VERY pricey to get the maps and useless without it. You can still access the crowd sourced ActiveCaptain data through a web based interface, but only when you have an internet connection..

Hi, My last boat had a lowrance chart plotter. It had a pretty good outline of the lake, but didn't show any of the buoys. I started using Navionics on a tablet. They had great charts. I sold the Sea Ray and bought a Bayliner that had a circa 2005 Raymarine Multi Function display on it. I purchased the Navionics chart card for the display and I am happy with the chart. So now I have Navionics charts on my tablet, phone and the boat. I have to tell you that between having radar, GPS and the navionics charts I am quite comfortable with night boating. I debated trying to upgrade the MFD to a newer one that had a touch screen. As near as I can tell my old radar, gps and depth modules are not compatible with the newar MFD's Too bad, becuase I could probably afford to upgrade on piee at a time, but there is no way I could do it in one shot.

And Garmin has recently stated they will be adding Active Captain to the Navionics app. Not sure if they will also add it to the Navionics chartplotter software.
