I guess someone thinks we need to increase our balance at the hospital.

If prayer is your thing. We could use a few extra.

2 weeks ago, my wife reinjured her knee which was operated on about 5 years ago. In the meantime, she has been having headaches. Her doctor sent her for an MRI and it revealed a colloid cyst and the 3rd ventricle of her brain. I didn't even know our brains had ventricles. It is benign which is awesome, but it can cause issues. It is likely why her head has been hurting much more than normal and can cause pressure issues which can be very bad. Likely treatment is removal using an endoscope to get into the middle of the brain where it is. Now the question is where do we get it done. My guess is it won't get done here. We will most likely be heading to a major metropolitan area to find someone who has done many of these.

After her brain surgery, she will then get the knee done if that is what is needed. Since we will be at our out of pocket max for insurance again, I'll be under the knife in December to get my hernia fixed.

In short, prayers and thoughts are warmly accepted. Hoping to get her back on her feet in time for her to soak up some June sun on the boat.

You won't go wrong with the U of U hospital, the care they gave Vick when she had her subarachnoid hemorrhage was outstanding. Best of luck and wishes to you both...

Hoping for the best outcome, James.

It sounds like some rough times, and having to travel on top of it all. Make sure you find a good hospital & doctors for the surgery.

Well, there is an interesting concept that your imaging results aren't released over the phone and are generally released by a doctor. This a a story of why, even though sometimes it is frustrating. Case in point, my wife will not find out the condition of her knee until she sees the doctor next week.

We met with neurologist today. While she does have a cyst, it is not what we thought it was. Most importantly, it's not new and has not grown. This additional context means that intervention is likely not needed. The scans will go to the neurosurgeon to see if the concur. It's possible they will recommend surgery, but I would say that is less of an expected outcome than we thought.

So, it's good news on the brain and waiting on the knee. Of course we are relieved, but in an odd way disappointed. When given news like that you go through grief, fear, acceptance, and then hope. Grief of the seriousness of the situation, fear of the brain surgery, accepting of what is happening and then hope that fixing whatever the issue is will fix the other symptoms that you are experiencing. That hope is dashed as you realize that surgery will not relieve her headaches, dizziness, nausea, etc. Hppefully they will find the solve while we enjoy the likelihood of no surgery.

Good news is stalled. My liver decided it wants attention even though I don't drink, rarely take tylenol, eat healthy, exercise 6 days a week, etc., I'm hoping it's just hungover by the years of me being overweight. Not much more I can do to keep it happy. Maybe it's just a grumpy organ.
