Missed ours again this year.
DId anyone go?
How well were the booths stocked, and how were the prices?
Were the shows busy, or were they as slow as BABC has been lately?

Slow? BABC? Heck Justi, I've seen glaciers move faster than this.

Hopefully as the temps heat up so does the board.

Weekend of the Chicago boat show we were in the Upper Peninsula Michigan snowmobiling.

I was busy working my normal 17-7 shift, wanted to go but couldn't figure out how to look at boats and engrave stuff at the same time- and nobody was gonna complain on Monday that I didn't look at boats...

We haven't attended a boat show in years, mainly because we already have a boat and not looking to get a replacement. Our oldest is now 10 and is involved in a spring travel baseball league, who knew spring started in January! Next week we're off to the lake house for a work weekend and then again for Easter when we'll relax.

I'm kind of in the same boat (sorry for the bad pun) as OH. We have a boat, don't need another, don't need new electronics, etc. We do need a new bimini up above and new strataglass windows for the fly bridge so we're taking the boat down to Portland in a week or so to have that work done. I'll post some photos.

I've made it to the New England Boat Show every year for about as long as I can remember. On one occasion, I had the pleasure of meeting Scott Porter, President of Formula Boats.

Of course, boat shows are not as fun as they could be, when the Admiral says to leave the checkbook home frown

Maybe some day . . .

I went to the LA Boat Show a couple years ago. It had shrunk so much (remember we were in a 5 year drought) that it only took me 1/2 hour to walk through, and that was after meeting someone I know in the trade and asking a lot of questions to a couple of the few equipment vendors. Won't go this year.

We usually go to one or two each year, almost always in the water shows. Now that we have a boat we intend to keep for the foreseeable future, it is mostly to get ideas on improvements and buy from vendors at discounted prices.

Haven't been in years but did go to one in Dallas last month. Always like looking at new Cobalts. Couldn't afford to replace mine with a comparable boat now days though. Oh, and wakeboard/ski boats? $150K+ for a Mastercraft. A freakin' ski boat! Sticker shock made me thirsty but the price of beer price was $9 a pop. I found the drinking fountain.

Anyways, it was fun.

Wife and I went to the St. Louis boat show last month and damn if we didn't order a new boat. Out with our '12 Chap 246 and we have a new Chap 267SSX on order. Hope we like it and yeah boat prices are crazy, though the net deal was "almost" palatable. Regardless, the wife is happy so all is well;)

That's a heck of a way to let us know you've succumbed to 2 foot-itis.
How soon before the boat arrives?
More info is always better.

Haha, new boat should arrive by the end of next month.

Went with black wideband, which is basically black from waterline to the gunwale, with a black power folding tower. We Had Black Vapor which adds a black bottom on my 246, while I liked the look, trying to keep it clean while on a lift was a major pain. Added tabs, electric head, garmin dual displays, dune interior with snap carpet, filler cushion, table, deluxe package, which adds deluxe bucket seats, docking lights, pop up cleats, stereo remote etc.

After much debate and discussion, went with Merc 6.2 350hp/BIII DTS. Which after seeing Boattest.com performance test of same boat with same power, I think we'll be happy with. So we'll see....

Sounds like a great boat maybe we will run into you on the water sometime. Did you trade in the 246?

Yes, we are trading in the 246 and will continue to slip at Sullivan. We should be on the water most weekends, so we very well could cross paths

Congrats. The 267SSX is a great looking boat (the entire SSX series is).

Thanks, Dock. My wife fell in love with layout and a mostly usable head.

My lift is rated for 10k lbs. Previous owner had a 27 foot cruiser on it and I didn't have to make any adjustments for the 246. As you can imagine it pops right up. I don't expect to have any issues with the 267.

I went to the Midatlantic Boat Show in Charlotte last month. It was my first show in 5 or more years. My observations: Regal and Cobalt seem to be heading the way of full digital displays; Pontoon boats are getting fancier and fancier; boat manufacturers are adding some features that are very nice (electric retractable bimini tops that come off of the arches for example), but I would be somewhat concerned with long-term reliability and potential repair costs; dang boats are expensive.
