My daughters boyfriend of four or five years now called my wife and I the other day to ask our permission for him to have our daughters hand in marriage, we think the world of him and gave it our blessings.
So everything is now a whirlwind of action. They both graduate from college this week and then the day after Christmas they move to Golden, Colorado to strike out on their own. His father is loaning them a fifth wheel trailer to live in until they can make other arrangements.

Wife and I will help them move and are taking our fifth wheel up there to stay a few days.

Daughter has found a place to hold her wedding, The Grand Canadian Theater is an old Opry House from about 1915....I remember seeing movies there in the early '70's. Very nice and unique place.

Wife is going frantic finding a Mother of the Bride dress. Me, I'm just trying to find some shorts that have paint stains to match their theme...Navy, Burgandy, Gold...

I just doesn't seem possible that this day has is nearly here. I so happy and proud for both my kids. The S part of the team has a steady girlfriend going to college in Chickasha, Oklahoma. He was raised on a ranch out in the Oklahoma Panhandle and raises some cattle herself. She funny and spirited and is the light of my sons world. He seems so at ease with her. This is is first steady relationship.

Anyway I just thought I would pop in and share this will all of you.

Best wishes,

PH, congrats on the kids growing up and becoming free birds on their own. You probably are familiar with this but this is Kahlil Gibran's take on raising children. It's worth reviewing even if you have read it many times, as I have.

It is amazing how when they are little time seems to move so slowly but one day you turn around & they are adults breaking out on there own & time is moving so much faster. My son is 23 1/2 & our relationship gets stronger all the time & i am couldn't be prouder.

Sounds like they've picked winners and should be very happy.

One of my "must do's" is to get a proper suit. I hate spending money on a "Marry 'em/Bury 'em" clothing item. So off to the thrift stores I go......

Went to a upscale consignment shop. They had lots of suits but nothing that really stood out and the brands were all the typical retailers. Found one Hugo Boss suit but I hated the contrasting stitching. At one time that was the hallmark of a designer suit. Why I do not know, it just makes the suit look like it was thrown together at the last minute.

Went to Goodwill and found a Macy's brand suit in my size that was in pretty good condition. One button missing on the sleeve and a minor snag in fabric that the belt will cover. It was "Blue Tag" day and this suit had a tag of blue.....so score....out the door....total expenditure of $5.72.....

Ran by the tailor where my wife is having her gown fitted (gown was a bit more than 5 bucks....but my wife is chesty and things off the rack don't fit her) They looked me over and asked what I wanted. I told the lady her eye was much better than mine, do what you think makes it look proper.

She found buttons to match the suit and marked the suit up. Will run about $85.00 to have it fitted to me.

So for about 91 bucks I have a nice, all virgin wool, Macy's suit.......made from really ugly sheep I guess.....

What was funny was I only had about 12 in cash on me. Have gotten so use to debit cards we just don't carry cash. We also use our credit card for all daily purchases and pay it off monthly. We get a pretty good cash back bonus this way and no interest charges.

The date for the wedding is Friday, Feb 23, 2018.
