Well, for the past 4 months, recovery has been the main thing in life. Now, it's hunting season. One of my goals when I woke up in the hospital was to get out and hunt this fall. I drew a good deer tag and 2 antelope tags for Wyoming. In September, my son said he wanted to hunt so that added another opportunity. Of course we had to get him through hunter's safety which he completed a few weeks back.
In September I was able to get out and do some dove hunting. Not great results, but fun to do.
Last week I went to Wyoming to hunt antelope for the first time. Those things are tough because they have great eyesight, can see almost 360 degrees, good smell, good hearing and there are often no places to hide to sneak up on them. They also live on the plains where it is windy. The first 2 days I had several opportunities but couldn't connect. Finally on day 3 I connected at 375 yards to fill my first tag. On the way back out of the hunt area, we were able to get a second one fillingy second tag. Ate the backstraps last night and working on breaking them down.
Tomorrow, I am supposed to take our son deer hunting. We have to get to the range tonight and see how he does. If he is challenged, we'll postpone.
In November I am back out for deer for my tag. Once that is done, I'll be back out for quail, rabbits, partridge etc.
Hopefully I'll have more pics to ad as will others on the board.
