I don't want this to be political, but it is hard not for it to take that route. You guys can go as political as you want, but it will be deleted.
When a large proposal is rushed through, and votes seemingly have to be bought, what does that really tell you?

From this article,

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/01/...h-reform-talks/

the main clause I am referring to is;

"The breakthrough announced Thursday was a biproduct of the previous days talks: a deal on so-called "Cadillac" insurance plans. The White House and top union leaders heralded the agreement, which shields all union workers for five years from significant taxes on health benefit packages that non-union workers will face starting in 2013."

Why is it some people are exempt from a tax, when the rest of us have to pay it? Are they better than us? Are they more deserving than us? What makes that group of people tax exempt????

This is BS in the biggest form possible. I don't care if you are red, blue, green, or whatever, this should turn your stomach.

Stomach turning stuff, indeed. Still at issue is whether individuals will be compelled to purchase private health insurance or pay a fine (tax, fee, whatever...)simply for the fact of being alive. Making felons of honest Americans who choose alternate health care methods is the most odious of the probable outcomes.

The further damage yet more debt-based spending will inflict on an already tragically overburdened tax base is, in this case, incidental.

Really?? So the fact that the unions are getting a sweetheart deal is propoganda? Just from the standpoint that this is true completely shoots a hole in your quip. I happened to see that first on CNN TV, and could ONLY find it in print on Fox. I guess your view of unbiased reporting would be someone like the honorable Olberman? Whatever...

All of the news agencies are worthless propoganda wings for politicans and their lobbists. You have to be able to sift through it and figure out for yourself what is real and what isn't.

WM,

It's fair because the people (And lobbyists) who will benefit are the people who are losing power and need to get in what they can before the trip is over. Why should politicans care? They will be exempt too.

Every day is new and exciting and makes me up my wager on when the US will declare BK.

I understand there is really no good news service available. But attacking the news organization instead of addressing the problem is a bit sophomoric, even by my standards. Especially when the article was pretty factual.
I apologize to Deep for jumping into him like that, but I was pretty purturbed with the article, and the whole condemnation of Fox News sounds just like our elected rulers these days. Won't address the issues, on either side of the aisle, and always find a reason to skip the subject.

The current efforts have zero to do with health care IMO. There's a good reason the party working for it is willing to give up virtually everything in exchange for getting this one thing passed.

From everything i've seen, one of the benefits of this health care program is a bail out of the state and federal unions' health care programs. It basically will shift the responsibility from the local, state, and federal gov't to J.Q. Taxpayer. Another form of bailout of the irresponsible.

This proposal goes through, and we'll be asking Greece for money...

This is not 'universal health care', rather a push for universal health 'insurance' wrapped in one of the largest tax increases on individuals and businesses in history.

Wait until some of those folks expecting 'free care' find out that it is nothing of the sort with co-pays and premiums that are sky high in many circumstances.

These idiots have simply found a way to pull tax revenue forward (prior to providing any 'benefits') that was sold as 'health care' in an attempt to stem the flow of serious red ink and cash flow problems at the federal level.

Ultimately, the bond market will put an end to the BS, but by that time, things will be pretty ugly.

Several states are already preparing lawsuits relative to the 'mandates' that this crap places back upon the states. Completely unconstitutional stuff here people.

The article below provides some interesting insight.

Whatever job creation may have been on the near horizon, this has put a stake through it's heart for sure!

Some believe it's a whole lot more insidious than that, and that the evidence to support the claim is right before our eyes.

My boss and I were discussing this the other day. He would get a $2000 a year penalty for every person not insured. He said that is a great option for them, really crappy for the rest of us though...
