I think if memory serves me right there was a discussion many years ago about short term disability insurance. I am in the market, or at least I am looking into buying a short term disability policy to help supplement my income should I or the spouse need surgery or need to be off work or any length of time. The Gov't doesn't offer this as a "benefit" they expect us to "save our annual leave and sick time". Well that's really tough to do when you've got young kids that have health issues, or you've taken time off from work to care for sick family members, or you are really sick yourself.
Was wondering if anyone here had any experiences with AFLAC good, bad or any comments on the pricing of their policies.

Thanks,
LBS

No experience with AFLAC, but I just bought STD from Unum for the first time this year and was able to get more/better coverage at a lower price than what we used to have directly from our (large) employer.

Good luck with that-- I'm paying $160 a month for a supplemental policy, it's a pretty good one, BUT, only covers "accidents". If I just plain get sick and can't work, too bad. And my agent couldn't find a policy that wasn't outrageous. Mine's thru Allstate I think, no clue about Aflac...

I had AFLAC when I was out with surgery a few years back. They paid off without any quibble. The only fly in the ointment was the amount of coverage. I thought I was purchasing more than I was but the error was mine, not AFLAC's. If their price is competitive I would recommend them.

LBS,
I think there are better/more cost effective options out there. Do some digging. After really getting into specifics with AFLAC...I found one pays a lot for very little in return. I'm not saying AFLAC is bad,or not a good company, but do some shopping.

Just my 2 cents.
