Well since we have had the boat in a slip the last 4 years I thought it was time to change vehicles. That thought was reinforced after the kid rear ended me. So I got some insurance money to put a new bed on it, but sold it at a good price un fixed.

I have a friend with a Ford diesel if I need to take it somewhere, but we found a really good repair place on the lake and take the boat out for you when they work on it.

All that being said we replaced the truck with something with very little tow capabilities, but we love it.

Right before Christmas the local Cadillac dealer had some awesome deals on the 2009 SRXs since the 2010s are completely redesigned. We really wanted a new Honda Pilot, but we got the SRX cheaper than a Pilot, $15,000 off the SRX was a deal we could not pass up.

Now a month later we still think we did the right thing and the panoramic sun roof is awesome!! Almost as much air as the S2000!!!

Supra - I'd like to hear a little more about your SRX (engine, drivetrain, interior space...). Particularly how it stacks against a Pilot. Any issues?

I'm sitting here contemplating replacing my PF with either a Pilot, a 4R, or another PF. Literature's all spread out, comparo spreadsheet is done. Hadn't really thought much about a crossover. Leaning slightly towards Pilot.

Philr - my brother was all set to buy a new Pilot but was able to get a better price on a Acura MDX. Much nicer truck in my book.

Capt - Interesting thought, but nearest Acura dealer is 90 miles away in Peoria. Honda dealer in town is great, and I could walk there in 20 min.

We got a 2009 which is still rear wheel drive where as the 2010 is front wheel drive and a bit smaller.

It has the v-6 not the v-8 so power and gas mileage is about the same as the pilot. The SRX is a bit bigger, longer anyways, that the Pilot, but the pilot it taller.

THe one place the Pilot is better is in the 3rd row seat, but we will only have our granddaughter back there occasionally, so that is ok. The 2010 SRX does not have the 3rd row seat.

I think I would have liked the Pilot too, but I got a $45,000 vehicle for $30,000 and they wouldn't take more than $2000 off a $34,500 Pilot.

We love the SRX so far and I feel the service at the Caddy dealer will be better than what I get at the Honda dealer with the S2000.

Enjoy the GM (Government Motors) as we all chipped in for it. Is it not disgusting that they have to give those cars away and in former Soviet the GMs were so sought after people paid anything for them (they called them Volga etc.)

I am sure it is a good vehicle and I am happy for you but I would think the Pilot is a very different more truck like vehicle so I am surprised they were alternatives. My CFO has a Pilot and the 3 year lease was expiring and the current prices they quoted for a new one were insane. He ended up extending the lease and hoping for some good deals down the road.

When I shopped SUV we went through all of them. MB ML,BMW X5, Acura MDX, Audi Q7, Volvo XR, VW Touareg, Caddy. I felt then that BMW was the best one but it was expensive (as all of them were) They wanted 50k for the Caddy just as a comparison to the 30 you paid, I think that is a great value.

Enjoy it
