Hello, new to the forum,

I have a 1999 Century 21' Dual Console in need of upholstry work in the bow. The "bolster" or back rest that is mounted directly to the hull needs to be replaced but I can't figure how to remove. I can access about three screws from inside the console and about two screws from reaching into the anchor door. The bolster is still firmly attached to the hull.

Evidently the bolster was mounted to the hull wall and then the boat shell bonded together. Make sense? Sorry don't have pix yet. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Larry, welcome to a great place for boaters to hang out. Glad to have you aboard.

I had a Reinell and to remove the front bow back rests (bolsters?) you simply had to lift hard on them. They were mounted to screws that went into keyhole shaped holes on the back of the back rests. To install them you aligned the holes with the studs and pushed down hard on the back rest. To remove them you pushed hard on the bottom to lift them straight up then they would come free.

Hope this helps.

Thanks much for the response. I'm sure the back rest is attached firmly to the boat shell from behind. I can reach about 3 screws from the front anchor access and three from the back through the console. No way I can access the 3 or 4 remaining in the middle. I'll have to come up with another plan when I return home. Thanks again, Larry
