Had another boat cover shred; 3d in 5 years.
Any suggestions for good quality, good fitting boat covers? A good price would be nice, too.

My boat is a small 18.5 footer.

I hate to say it, but I think my last day on the water was last Saturday - a beautiful day: 78, no wind, blue sky, less than half a dozen boats. Time to pull it off the street and put it next to the garage for the winter. Could use it year round, but it doesn't make for a good fishing boat.

I've had 2 Sharkskins gone in 7 years, I finally bit the bullet and currently have a Sunbrella cover by Westland.

1 year into it, still looking good and shedding water. We'll see.

I believe iBoats had the best overall price because of the free shipping and straps.

Good cover discussion on this thread:

Your best bet is to have one made to fit the boat. We have used a material called Aqualon which stays waterproof and does not have to be treated. My last cover made out of this lasted ten years.

What do you want the boat cover to do?

Is it for mooring, trailering, storing indoors, storing outdoors? I have the same cover since 2001 however my boat is stored indoors and not getting beat on from the sun.

They have made-to-fit from patterns available from www.boatcoversdirect.com . Mine is Sunbrella and is 5 years old but I keep it inside too. It is in great shape.

Thanks.
It's for outdoor storage all year.
Will check out the suggestions. Apparently the inexpensive covers are only inexpensive at the time of purchase.

Unfortunately, the very nature of what boat covers are meant to do means their longevity isn't the greatest. 5-Year warranties are the best you're ever going to find (and even then, its generally against tearing only-not fading). It's just one of those things that you're going to have to replace every now and then.
