Many months spent searching has ended with what I can call the best tire for my needs. the bias-ply are needing replacement and these radials are calling. Ive heard great things about these on the travel trailer and 5th wheel websites. Kumho 857 does anyone have any experience with them?

My trailer and boat weighs in about 7k.
205/75r 14 d-ply, 99miles per hour.

Looks like you've landed exactly where I landed also after scouring around for a few months.

What threw and wrench in my plans was availability. I couldn't find them anywhere. Tire Rack didn't have any or were unavailable (backordered??) for months.

My search went on and and then brought me to strongly considering Maxxis.

Now here's my dilemma:

- The Kumho's seem to be available again from Tire Rack, BUT they are manufactured in China from what I've deciphered in the codes on Tire Rack. Making me balk a little... (I know they're a Korean company)

- Read good feedback on the Maxxis, but not sure where they are manufactured. Seem to be reasonably priced and available through America's Tire.

- Marathons - I had sworn off them listening to reviews, but my Canadian made ones I need to replace seem pretty good. Also reading the codes on Tire Rack, different size marathons are made in different countries, and the size I need is mada in Canada....

Not sure where I'll land, but the Kumho's and the Maxxis are pulling at me. I'm not sure who'll win...

Let me know.

Very interesting. We are probably not far off from replacements & wondering what to get as well.

Can't offer any experience with the Kumhos. However, if you are having a hard time finding what you want in stock, check out TreadDepot.com

When I was recently searching for tow vehicle replacement tires, the tires I wanted were on back order just about everywhere, including Tire Rack. Tread Depot got them in stock first, so I bought from them. Plus, when I called them to ask their recommendation, their customer service was top notch and the folks I spoke with were quite knowledgeable. Their shipping was about 1/3 the cost of tire rack and the price per tire was another $10 less. I believe this site is the on-line version of Kaufman tire - which I think is based out of Atlanta. Kaufman Tires definitely carries trailer tires, so I suspect you can order them on-line even though I don't see the 857s listed.

By the way, there is a Maxxis tire dealer about 5 miles from me. I'll be visiting them when its time to replace the OEM Craplisles on my trailer.

FWIW, I have Maxxis tires on my mountain bike. Tow capacity is kinda low, though. Sometimes I can't even pedal my own fat arse up a short hill.

My trailer came with Maxxis as OEM and I never had a problem.
