Current laptop still runs NT. It needs to be replaced. I have held off this long on Vista and know it is better now. My stupid question is will all the software I own still work with Vista? I guess my main concern is I own a full copy of Office Suite and would rather not have to spend a couple hundred dollars on another one.
Much appreciated

Can't help, but I predict at least 4 Mac-heads will ..... well, you know.
D-Rod, you disappoint me.
Guilty as charged. Just go get a Mac. You'll never look back.
So true. But if people want to be ignorant and ignore the advantages and simplicity...let them be.
Office 2003 and 2007 should work on Vista. I have used both on Vista a couple of times in the past.

People who buy Windows Vista Home Premium, Business or Ultimate computers starting Friday can contact their manufacturer for a free upgrade when Windows 7 becomes available on Oct. 22.
Bought the laptop today and really like it. I have Office 2000. Only issue I can find is I can't import my backed-up emails into Outlook or Windows Mail. I sure hope I do not need to upgrade to 2003 but that might be necessary. Thoughts?

It should work. Sorry...havent worked with Office 2000 in years.
Does Outlook in office 2000 use PSTs? If so, copy that over, and assign it in Outlook.

Rod...yes it does use PST files. I am not familiar with "assign". How do you go about doing that. I can't import the files as I have tried already. Thanks for the help.

Use a flash drive or something to move the PST file/files from the old computer to the new one. Open account settings. Somewhere in there you should see a button or tab about data files. Add the data file you transfered. You should be able to make it the default datafile. It will require a restart of Outlook at least once if not twice. Check the folder bar on the right hand side...you may have to click the + to expand but eventually you should see all of your old email.
