This has been posted all over the internet before.NEVER once have I seen where alcohol was known for a fact to be involved. Does anyone have the FACTS about this accident???? To many people jump on the bandwagon and ASSume that alcohol was involved.

That is one seriously stout pole holding those traffic lights up.
Most in the US (or at least in my part of it) are designed to break away at the ground to prevent stopping anything that hits it dead in its tracks like that.
Seems likely that someone got hurt in that one.

Mike BoatingABC.com My imaginary friend thinks you have serious problems.
I haven't looked close, but it doesn't look as bad as I would have thought for having overrun the bow roller/winch support, the truck tailgate, and hood.
I would imagine that the outdrive took a few hits as it crossed the trailer cross supports, winch post, and tongue.
PLEASE don't expect your transom hold-downs to prevent that. Not gonna happen. Simple evidence of that: The vastly much stronger winch strap didn't do squat either!
As far alchole being involved or even the cause I can not account for that.. However after seeing it I want to have a few drinks,, and if I was to wittness it I would have to break out a lawn chair or two,, a few beers and hang out to see how the rest of this poor souls day turned out..

Strange thing is that after searching for an hour on the net I can not find the original news clip on this. Picture quality is to low to blow it up. We need someone like deepv to run the math on the weight, sudden stop and forward force. While I believe this could happen, it would seem the truck would need to be flatter on the front. Considering the straps hold around 10k lbs plus, just would like to see the news article!

Taking into consideration the make of boat and type of trailer I think the strength of the trucks tailgate and roof supports are up to standards... as for the braking power and front end crumple zones??? I wonder if a push bar would have helped...
Just looking at the pictures make me want to crack a beer.

Typical Bayliner owner. (sorry FR, just kiddding...)
So FR is the only Bayliner owner here ???? I guess you don't acknowledge other BL owners (always discriminated against, even in the jokes... ) Figures
Sorry, LL. FR was the first one that came to mind. Now that you've brought it to my attention, I can tease you too.
Thanks Bob. Now that we have that cleared up, I can finish my 12-pack of Natural Light and hook the boat up so me and the kids can speed through some no wake zones and hit a sandbar
