Couldn't stay awake for the entire game after the long one Friday night and boating Saturday afternoon. But, it was a good battle till I went to sleep somewhere in the 7th and apparently it continued to be good till it finally ended in the 11th at around 1:30AM. Heading to Boston tied 1-1.

By the way, Friday nights game set a record for number of people in the holding tank (drunk and obnoxious tank)at the Trop at one time. Way to go Boston fans!!!

So far, it's been a good series. All the RSox fans I talk to are really happy with Bay being in the line up. Manny is showing his self with the Dodgers, but I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have performed like that if he were still wearing the Red Sox jersey, in fact the Sox probably wouldn't have made the playoffs.
Beckett is not 100%, no matter what he says. He isn't doing well. If the Rays win the series, which they probably will, it is due to the Sox pitching faltering and the Ray's ability to hit when it counts.



When in Rome....

Rays seem to be gaining momentum, took the first game at Boston, big win in my opinion. Far from over though.

I enjoyed the Rays BP at Fenway tonight ... wait, that was game 3
Momentum?... more like a turning point – at least for those who still aren’t sure they are real.

This is the last you will hear from me on the subject, tomorrow I am on a plane heading for Barcelona and will not be back until the 29th.

So here goes.......GO RAYS!!!! and if it doesn't happen for them somebody get LL into protective custody, he is a good guy despite trying to jinx them, I would hate to see anything happen to him. He has a family to take care of after all.

You predicted nothing, you just said you hoped you didn't jinx them to go 3-23. I first stated that I wanted them to win the AL East. So you are 1 for 1, you didn't jinx them then, lets hope you didn't jinx them now.

I knew when Lester lost we were in trouble. When Beckett and then Lester get lit up, it's all but the portly woman's turn.
Wakefield might as well throw underhand anymore, not sure why they keep him around. He has a good record I guess, but doesn't seem to do well against the Rays.
I wish the Rays well in the WS.

We have probably all made our share of predictions (not just this topic) and had our share of correct calls. I have a had a few more than one myself (maybe 2 or 3 )

Watermutt, You almost have me feeling some sympathy for the Sox...
I have to admit, it is a little strange rooting against the Sox this October.

I was a lifelong Red Sox fan until this year (that statement doesn’t garner much respect with Sox fans and other baseball fans)
’04 was special in a way only a multi-generational fan would know... then after they won in ’07, that was proof that the curse was gone.

This spring (when there was only talk of the Ray’s having a “decent” year) - I converted.
I figured I had lived in Tampa for ten years... it was time for me & my kids to support the local team.
Btw; we never were the type of Sox fans that would wear our garb to the Trop and cheer against the Rays. I always thought those fans were disrespectful (that is the nice word I will use).
Same goes for the Yankees fans. For years the only sellouts were Yankees and Red Sox games – the Rays were playing in a hostile park.

Being so close to this spectacular storybook team this year has been amazing ... almost as amazing as when the Sox won the series in ‘04 .... ... nah, not the same – but this is great in it’s own way.
