The posted official press release states that the collision involved the barge "Islander", which was being towed by a tug. No grassy knolls around here...

I couldn't see the radome in the picture in our paper but the 26' Bayliner had an arch for one. The male victim's son saw them off for Buccaneer Days at Catalina. They said, "You're coming next year.", smiled and cruised off. Son said they were never happier. Penny, the female victim, called a friend from the water and told her the conditions were great, calmer than a lake. Sad story. Let's be careful out there. Wow, if they were found INSIDE the boat, who was at the wheel? Autopilot casualty? The more information that we have about this, the better. Education from fatality collisions sinks into most folks heads. R.I.P.
