Friend and I are in a discussion.

If cider ages, does it turn alcoholic?

Anyone know? Quick google search hasn't turned up anything yet...

BTW, this friend and I have no negative plans. It came up out of halloween plans at a corn maze with apple cider....

It'll only turn to alcohol if it ferments. If you're planning to buy a bunch of cider from your local grocer, chances are it's been pasteurized and contains some additives to inhibit growth of microbes, like potassium sorbate or sodium benzoate. Those types of products are usually shelf-stable for about 3 weeks in refrigeration, and even if you add yeast to them, they won't ferment (but I wouldn't recommend drinking dosed cider - it probably wouldn't taste too good). If you've gotten your hands on a bunch of fresh, unprocessed cider from a local orchard, that WILL ferment, and you'll know it if it does!

I have a great recipe for "apple pie" which involves apple cider and everclear (grain alchohol).

1 gallon Cider
1 gallon Apple Juice
8 cinnemon sticks
2 cups of sugar
1 bottle of everclear

In a large pot, mix apple cider, apple juice, sugar and cinnemon sticks. Bring to a boil and let cool completely. Add one bottle of everclear. Careful! Makes a tasty but very potent drink!

I have a better recipe. smile

Girl "A" sits on picnic table, with bottle of Apple Pucker and bottle of Vodka, feet on bench.

You sit facing away from girl "A" on the picnic table bench, between feet, and lean head back, mouth open.

Girl "B" sits on your lap, facing you, with shaker of cinamon and can of spray-whipped-cream.

Girl "A" pours shot of Pucker and shot of Vodka in your mouth.

You do nothing.

Girl "B" shakes cinnamon in, follows with shot of whipped cream.

Now you close mouth, shake head to mix, and swallow shot.

Tastes just like Apple Pie.

Enjoy folks. smile
