Thinking about saving some money by winterizing the PWC myself. It saves a 2 hr round trip drive as well. Seems simple enough. Is it as simple as it sounds?

I winterized my '99 Yamaha SUV1200 last year. Essentially followed these directions;

http://lkgeorge.tripod.com/articles/archive/winterizepwc.htm

I would note however that mine is a 2 stroke. A four stroke may be a completely different beast. www.pwctoday is a good place to ask as well.

BTW - how do you like your Yamaha? We are considering trading ours in for a new VX110 Deluxe. Not sure that I want to give up all of the storage that our SUV provides. At 13' long and 5 wide, more like a small boat.

Rocnat4 - Thanks for the info. We really like our Yamaha. HAs more than enough power for us. My BIL has the 110 Deluxe. It is fun as well. I like the space and seating on mine. The 110 is a bit more nimble if you like riding hard.

Is yours 2 stroke or 4 stroke. Used to own a 2 stroke and it was very simple to do. Not sure about the 4 stroke models.

I own a 99 GP1200 which has the same engine as the SUV.

We have some friends who have a VX110. It's a superior machine in nearly every respect. It's smoother, uses about 1/3 the gas, and no oil, it rides better, way quieter and the power is much more useable.

The GP is still slightly faster and handles a little better, but you can rarely use the extra power.
