How does one do this? Is it just the same as a carb'd motor?

That's the way I treated mine....(like a carb)

Removed the spark arrestor and sprayed away. I had to manually kill the engine, it wouldn't die by my spraying alone. I guess the computer was compensating...

I'm no expert so, YMMV...

Seems like you would want to follow the manual and add the merc mix throught the fuel/water sep filter, no?
Aren't you worried about fouling some of the sensors?

I was told fogging a FI motor is not a good idea. I don't fog mine. I'm sure some of the mechanics will chime in on the whys and why not.

camp, I dump oil down the throat of my TBI, cause the spray won't come close to killing the engine. It can get messy, though, as the injectors are in the way of the bottle's spout. And I am not that steady handed when pouring!

In the case of TBI, it's almost exactly like fogging a carburetor. You are not dumping oil on or over any sensors. You are dumping it down on top of the throttle plates, and the injectors spray the gas down on top of it. It all then goes into the intake manifold, just like on a carburetor.

So Billy, are you saying yes for a TBI and no for a MPI?

I am saying that for an MPI, you should follow the factory manual. And I believe, but don't know for a fact, that it says
Quote:

.
Without getting too technical, the only thing that is in the intake manifold of an MPI engine is AIR. (and a wire sensor of some kind) So you wouldn't want to dump oil in it. But a TBI system is really just like a carburetor. The intake manifold has the gas/air mixture in it. No harm dumping the oil into the top of the TBI unit.

TBI is basically a facny carb with injectors built in. I would fog it just as I would a carb'd motor. Keep at it until it dies (if you can) or you might have to kill it if it takes too long.
