An ugly week for Michigan to say the least. I really have to rethink that 7 or 8 wins I thought they would get.

Well, at least there were a bunch of other games to watch while the rain came down and the wind blew (tornado passed about a mile from my house).

Georgia escaped with a win.
USC should think about going pro.
Purdue should have beat Oregon but let them off the hook.
Kansas VS. USF Friday night was a good game to watch.
Saw the end of the Iowa / Iowa St. game, looked good from what I saw.

DA BEARS! still have no offense. Everyone knows you can't throw. Good defense can only get you you so many points. Disappointing, but they will still win the division.

#24TCU at #2Oklahoma? #22Illinois at #12Penn State?

Nah, it's definately #8Alabama at #3Georgia. Cause as they have proved for the last several years, the SEC is the best conference, with the best big-time teams in the country.

I would question that. After easily disposing of TCU, OU should be ranked number 1. There are three big 12 teams in the top ten, 5 in the top 20. And next week, there should be at least 6 teams in the top 25. And four of the top ten Heisman candidates are in the Big 12. Interestingly, all three Oklahoma teams are going to be 4-0 after tonight. Tulsa is taking care of Central Arkansas, we are taking care of business against a decent Troy, and OU is having no issues with the Horned Frogs. This has not happened since 1947 and is pretty good considering the way teams are today. If they stay healthy, we should see a lot of bowl games. That is if we don't beat each other up getting there.

Seadog, if the Big 12 consistantly did this every year and won all their bowl games like the SEC seems to, I would agree with you. But in past years (last year was an exception with Mizzou in their non-BCS bowl and Kansas in their BCS bowl) the Big 12's performance in BCS Bowls has been disappointing to say the least. And as far as Heisman candidates, that is totally irrelevent. Just ask Jason White.

After we beat Troy last night, their coach was quoted as saying that OSU could compete against Ohio State, which they played last week. Considering that their top ranked defense held Ohio State to only 309 yards total, and we had more than that in the first half......... The problem is that the media is too enamored with the coastal colleges. As for the issues with BCS bowls, I think that has some to deal with the hype, and a lot to deal with the teams just being worn out by then.

seadog, sorry, the SEC teams play a tough conference schedule and then a conference championship game as well. How come the SEC teams don't look worn out in the BCS games? You can argue media bias all you want, but it's backed up by facts. Sorry. And believe me, I wish it wasn't that way, cause I love the Big Ten and Penn State in particular, but the SEC is the best conference top to bottom, and performs the best in the big bowl games. Period.

We will have to agree to disagree. No one will really know who is the best until the bowl games are over. If you look at the stats, the Big Twelve dominates the numbers. OSU is #1 in offensive. There are some that say OSU can be a contender. Sounds nice, but after an A&M team that may get their act together, they play Missouri. They get a possible break with Baylor, but with Tech, Texas, and OU to play, it is going to be a rough time. While the SEC has some contenders, they seem to me to lack the risk from the bulk of their conference. I only see 3-4 teams that have decent bowl potential, and beyond those team, the conference lacks a strong second tier.

I am hoping that Tulsa makes it into the top 25 next week, so we can have all three state teams ranked. I am sure that it has happened many times that a state has three or more teams ranked, but I like the concept.

Of course, I don't get too involved with sports.

Yeah, we're gonna have to agree to disagree, cause the past performance numbers are clearly in the SEC's favor. And as far as a second tier, the SEC doesn't need one, they are all top tier teams. We'll talk about this again in January and see if anything has changed from past years' results!

Strength of schedule favors the SEC. Beating troy and tulsa does not compare to beating Georgia and Clemson.
