In the small northwest Illinois town on the Mississippi River where we boat, gas at the convenient mart was as low as $3.45 gallon on Sunday.

I see in the news, that gas in certain parts of the county is simply not available.

Anyone here experiencing these shortages?

All around Atlanta and down to where I live 55 miles south we're having lots off outages and often only Regular grade available. Our prices continue to run in the higher $3 and lower $4 range. Price swings can be 20 to 30 cents between station deliveries. Media reports are the loss of pipeline capacity due to Ike and delay by governor to request waiver for special blend fuels from EPA. So far, we've not been able to find gas, it just takes checking 4 to 6 different stations.

I took a road trip to Florida when IKE hit Texas. Yes, I experienced it when I was in Georgia and Tennessee. From no gas to limit of 10 gallons to gouging of 5.09 per gallon.

One exit happen to have contruction. So when I exited to get gas, all gas stations were out of gas. When I went to get back on the expressway (I75), the ramp was closed due to contruction. Boy was I fuming.

There was a severe shortage in the Nashville area over the weekend and first of the week of 9/19-9/23. Then 87 octane showed up, then 93 octane, and there is still some stations that don't have 89 octane. While some of the mom & pop stations are still out of gas, things seem to be getting back to normal here. A buddy of mine came through on 9/23 and had trouble finding gas between Nashville and Atlanta.

Prices for regular range from 3.59 to 3.99. I was pleasantly surprised to find gas on the lake Saturday for 4.29. Usually there is a bigger spread.

For once some other area of the continental states is paying more than California? That cannot last long so either we're going to go up or you guys are going to come down in price.

San Diego currently has the lowest gas prices I have seen in a long time, around $3.55/gal regular.

And no shortages so far...

No shortages around here, nor in Phoenix last weekend.

Gas here was $3.83 when we left Thursday. Now it's $3.69. I like that.

A big thing in media here end of last week was a petroleum exec suggesting they cancel the UGA vs Alabama game this past weekend. I think Alabama didn't heed to suggestion but UGA didn't show up for the game laugh laugh laugh

The SE gets all it's gas from pipelines, no storage to speak of. Two shutdowns of the refineries in a row depleted all that was in the ground and they can't (or won't)truck enough in to catch up. People panic when the media says there is a shortage and make a gas run if they need it or not. I pulled into a place today just as they were announcing they were out. But we can find it here without to much problem and no lines.

We have an extreme shortage of $3.35 gas here. But $3.65 gas is plentiful.

Since the AG issued some subpoenas recently the stations seem to be afraid to raise prices above $3.99...that's the price I see everywhere, but we have a definite shortage. The pipeline is an issue which is exacerbated by everyone running around with full topped off tanks instead of typical half-full on average. I'm not throwing stones, us too...you see gas w/ no lines you whip in and top off b/c many stations have none. Lines at some stations have spilled into the streets and caused traffic backups.

I've found stations a little further off the beaten path are more likely to have gas. I had the pumps turned off on me when I was next in line a few days ago at the station closest to my house...I didn't complain b/c I didn't really want the last dregs from the bottom of the pump tanks in my vehicle anyway.

Instead of raising prices now, many stations are imposing a purchase limit. They hate to run out of gas b/c then no one stops to buy things in the mini-mart.

In addition to the bringing gas in via pipeline they are trucking it in from other terminals as well. Radio stations and newpapers have added features to their websites to show people what stations supposedly have gas.

The mayor is taking a little heat...he also happens to be running for governor.

The gasoline shortage showed signs of letting up Tuesday. AAA reported in the early afternoon that one out of five stations had fuel. By late afternoon, an informal Observer survey of about 120 stations showed that more than a third had gas.
