I coach with a guy who used to be a national cross checker for the Angels, wears a world series ring and still works as a player agent. He was asked last night if the Rays have a legit chance, his answer was an immediate yes.

Doesn't take an insider to see their resilience and talent CMJ. My answer is also "an immediate yes"... with limited baseball background
BillyB, I have always been a Thome fan. If somehow the White Sox beat the Rays (notice no “D” in Rays )... I may be jumping on the Sox bandwagon through it all
There is nothing like October baseball! Especially when your local team is unbelievable, there are some sentimental favorite in the mix ... and the Yankees are watching from home
While we're a Sox family, we still root for the Cubs to do good, and nothing would be cooler than a "Black and Blue" World Series between the 2 Chitown teams...
T-Squared, if you are a Sox family that wishes the Cubs well... you are Cubs fans. Sorry you can't root for both. Ever met a Mets fan that roots for the Yankees? I don't think so!

You don't have to worry about a Second City series, though. Sox are not very good and the Cubs will choke.
Think LAA versus Philly or Tampa vs Philly. Maybe the Cubs will get to the World Series, but I'd be shocked if they won it. White Sox don't stand a chance.

Of course the Angels just had to lose their first game, just trying to make me look bad! Ah heck, I don't care. I just want the the team from St. Petersburg to win it all!

as a met fan, i thought i would only qualify for a post season thread if the title was "who chokes the most down the stretch and doesn't make it to the post season". but all that changed today. apparently, i also qualify if the title is "guess which choking team rewards their gm with a multi-year extension". but i posted this here because i just can't bring myself to start a thread and be the only one who qualifies to post there. oh well, there's always next decade.

Well, how was it?!!!!!
Yes, I want a report too!
I listened to part of it on the way home and only caught the last inning on TV. Were you close enough to hear what Balfour was yelling at Cabrera (that was the best Rays strikeout all year )
It was awesome, the place was packed and it was rocking. I only spotted 4 Sox fans in my section and the sections on either side. They came to life briefly in the 3rd, but shut up and sat down pretty quickly! Couldn't hear Balfour because of the noice in the place. The energy was amazing, we had a blast!!
Longoria is incredible, hall of fame is in his future.
Sorry I couldn't update last night, went from work to the game, from the game to the high school for a practice, and then home at about 9:00pm for a quick dinner before becoming unconscious.

Yeah Billy, I guess if half of them made the trip that is pretty good representation!
As far as the Cubs, OUCH!! Drop the first two at home, gotta be hard to get on that plane and make that trip to unfriendly territory!! Although from what I heard it didn't seem Chicago was real friendly territory either!

Jimmy got a hit and an RBI, so that's great. And Paul Konerko is obviously on a very bad downhill slide in skills. Man, he's been like a vacuum sucking the wind out of their sails, except for about one week, all season! He obviously has to go. But wait the White Sox still will suck.
How about those Red Sox?! I guess there is something to this postseason experience thing?! Been there, done that, perhaps?
