Way to go Tampa Bay! But couldn't they have let Jimmy hit a homer or two????

Either team the D-Rays play, I just want them to whip them!

National cross Checker? I'm clueless

Heyboer, didn't mean to ignore the question, I just missed it. A national cross checker, as I understand it, is like the head scout for the organization. He is the guy that all the scouts report to then he actually takes a look at the prospects himself and makes the final decision on who will be picked up and who will not. He is the man when it comes to spotting talent.

It's getting a little chilly up here. I hope the Rays bring a coat, but they'll only need it for one game. Then they can go home and watch the rest of the Series on TV....

hehehe

Another World Series would sure take some of the Superbowl sting away... Are Boston area team sports fans spoiled right now or what?

Regardless of whether the Red Sox sweep The D-Rays or not (highly unlikely) there will be at least two games played in Boston after the two played in St. Petersburg. It's a best of 7 series, which means 4 games is the minimum, Mutt! grin

I will be at the game tomorrow night for the last post season game I will be able to attend. I can't believe that I am going to be out of the country WHEN the Rays are in the World Series!!

After the first three whoopins, the Rays won't show up for number four....

I expect it to be a good series. The Sox's pitchers have been really spuradic lately, so I don't know where things will fall out. I am happy for the Rays though, they've had a great season thus far. Good to see different teams in the playoffs.

I didn't get home until about 2:30 AM from last nights game by the time I dropped off the sitter!!

The place was rocking again, great atmosphere, but a few to many Boston fans. Rays couldn't take advantage of scoring opportunities, and they had plenty. For example when you have Crawford and 3rd with no outs and don't get him in. Bunt the freaking ball for Christ sakes!! Sorry, but that has been the only thing that I think the Rays are really weak on, and that is a fundamental of the game. Every team I have ever coached could bunt from just about every, if not every, spot in the lineup. Drives me crazy that they can't or won't pull it off when needed!

Anyway, it was still fun. Watched security show 4 obnoxious Boston fans the door. I have to admit I took a Boston fan to the game with me, but he is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet and far from obnoxious, but I did make him promise to be good in exchange for the ticket even though I knew he would be.

I thought ALCS game 1 was a great baseball game, even though my team didn’t win.

I haven’t caught any post-game commentary, but two management decisions floored me last night:
1. When the Rays were down 1-0 and they took out their starter.... why bring Howell in when Balfour has been your lights-out middle reliever all year??? Red Sox score another one immediately.
2. Who in the heck swings when it is 3-0 with 2 men on!!! Longoria and Pena both did in separate innings, and put the ball in the air, and in someone’s glove!

I knew the Red Sox would be tough.
Both starters were amazing... Dice K was just a little better.
To the Ray’s credit (sort of); if not for a couple of great defensive plays, the game would have been 4 or 5 to zip.

Can’t wait for the next one!
