What kind of info are you looking for seabuddy? Are you going fishing? Are you going next summer for an evening swim? Places to eat on the lake? Do you need info on the boat launches? Camping or motel needed?

I can tell you without knowing the lake; the water is wet and stay away from the dam when the red lights come on.

This is where I often go boating.

Lake Clarke is the official name and Long Level Marina is the marina on the lake. You put in on the York side at Long Level ramp which is across from Turkey Point. The rive is located in Lancaster County until you get to the western shoreline and then it is York County. The York side is deep (40') while the Lancaster side is much shallower (10' and less). The area that is boatable is large from the dam to just south of Rt 462 bridge. There are island near the bridge that have seasonal houses on them.

Let me know what other info you are looking for and I will try to help you out.

My wife and I have often gone there for a dinner cruise after work and we had a blast watching bald eagles trying to get dinner as well.

The one down fall against this lake is the current and the wind often comes up from the south which creates some chop. The parking is ok but the flow of traffic is not as good as the other lake we go to. There is no cost to launch but the ramp closes at 9PM (no gate). There are picnic tables and grills at the ramp however there is no swimming or beach area. Any swimming has to be done from the boat.

I took the family there @ 1999 and we really had a good time. Well worth the time to visit the area. Nice waters with some real hard core slolom skiers on a competition course. The lake itself is actually a dammed section of the Sussquehanna (sp?). Very Clean, Stafety Patrol and protected. I believe the lake is also known as Lake Clark.

It made for a very nice trip combined with a stay in the Amish Country, especially when the boys were @ 4 and 7. We stayed at the Strasburg Village Inn, that dates back to the 1700s. It an old fashioned Candy / Icecream shop attached where they have at least 10 waffle irons going most of the day in the summer for the most decadent cones.

We enjoyed touring the Amish Country, the Train Muesum, Hay Rides in the morning and then would go to the lake for the afternoon, come back to the Inn to shower and then go to a " Family Style Dinner " with all you can eat and usually do some outlet shopping to end the night.

The boys at the time were totally in to Thomas the Train and anything to do with trains. If you have an intrest at all - http://www.strasburgrailroad.com/

With out a doubt a real nice short vacation for those with the Boating Life Style.

This is a picture from Long Level/ Lake Clarke taken a few years ago on a very ugly looking day. As you can see not many others were on the water this fine Saturday morning.

From what I remembered there are quite a few boats trailered there for the day. I used a quite active public launch on what I remember being the East side of the lake.

Many boaters call that one their home lake?

Scott, there are no ramps on the east side at Lake Clarke. If there is one, it would be for jon boats only. The next lake down river (Lake Arnold) does have the ramps on the east side. Many people call this their home lake and it isn't too bad of one.

We did not go to this lake this past summer as it isn't protected as much as the one we attended. Our boating this year consisted of spending time on the hook because we have an infant.

The ramp is shallow so you need to back in farther to get any depth, there are no facilities except for a porta john.

We often went Saturday mornings so parking was not a problem, when we left in the afternoon, the parking area was full. We never boated on a Sunday but did take a motorcycle cruise down to the lake one time and parking was not to be had in the early afternoon.

We've boated there twice and enjoyed both trips. On Holiday pretty much summed things up about the lake. Clean, deep water that can get a bit choppy due to the wind/current. There are picnic tables and a porta-pottys at the ramps. The size of the lake is similar to Lake Raystown. Lake Clarke is approximately 7,400 acres and Lake Clarke is approximately 8,300 acres. We didn't get to Lake Clarke this season...we chose the Northern Bay since it's the same distance and offers more (for us anyway smile )
