...is always a sad occasion.
Went to the lake with Mom and mothballed Moby Deck. Put her out on the lake one last time and scooted around a bit. Got her back to the cabin and did the dirty deed. In someways it feels like having to put a dear pet down. Next year I am buying the kit with the "Y" connector and bucket so you suck the A/F into the motor. To darn hard to get all the hoses off.

Changed the oil but kept it for the lawnmowers since it only got 5 hours on it this summer.

When I fogged the motor it dieseled for a long time after I shut the key off. Finally put my hand over the butterflies to smother it. Hate the have an engine do that, can bend the push rods if you are unlucky.

Anyway I also put the new tags on the boat. I have a tradition of taking the old tags and placing them on the skirting of my trailer.

Lots of good memories of two boats stuck there. The last year of our first boat they started stickering the outboard separate from the boat.

Here is a picnic table I made a few years back. Very sturdy and has no framework underneath to bark you shins on.

We've got a umbrella for it but it's not needed in the shade where we have it.

Nice table, but I'm not seeing the connection to mothballing the boat.

The table has nothing to do with boating. Was just feeling bluesy with shutting things down for the winter. We never seem to make it down in the winter anymore. I know some of the guys on the board like to do wood working so I thought I would post it.

Yeah, I guess some years were more challenging than others.

I feel the pain of closing up for winter,, Last night I was going over by records of maintance to get a feeling for what needs to be done for storage.. For past few years I have been taking her to a shop for shrink wrap and winterizing,, It will also need adnoides and most likely a water pump impeller..I think the shaft and bellows also get checked.. I have them pull the batties and props... I have a trickel charge system and do all winter rotation on about seven differant batterys I have from all other things not used for winter.. The props will been cleaned and repolished..

I performed a winterize on the water tank and pump and emptied all things from her yesterday and be taking her there today...

It's a sad day..

I stack the stickers on upon the other -- then when five or six years go by I remove the stack -- of course on this boat being newer, the stack isn't very tall --

-- and then again I also forgot what "winterizing" is -- what is that??? ---

planing a trip to the keys next month -- keys snorkeling in November -- sounds good to me --

Instead of mothballing have you ever tried to use charcoal briquettes (not the matchlight kind of course) to keep the moisture and odor out of the boat cabin?
