I mean, this is just tooooo weird. Does strange stuff like this just happen to me?

Here I was, minding my own business about 3 miles off shore, when I see something floating in the water. Nobody else around, nice day, 1-2ft swells, good visibility.

Being the good boating citizen that I am, I usually pick up mylar balloons or other junk if I can fit it on my boat. So I go check it out.

From a short distance I see this

HUH? is that a body floating in the water???

I get closer and realize it is not a body. Still a little confused, not putting 2+2 together, thinking is it marking a dive spot? Snorkeling?

Then I thought jeez, what if it's booby-trapped (really, that did cross my mind before I saw them). Curiosity gets the best of me, and I grab the boat hook and get closer.

I flip 'it' over and this is what I see (shot from a bit of a distance so that admin doesn't *poof* this thread

No joke, I really do not make this stuff up. Good thing I bring a camera along or you guys would think I was writing a novel or something.

OK, wait, there is more. Like I said, I usually pick up trash, but I have this mental picture of me coming back to the Shelter Island launch ramp and some tourist family there, dad with his camera, little daughter screaming, "Mommy, what does that man have in his boat?!"

Yes, I really thought that, especially since I was boating solo. Not a good reason to be on the 6 o'clock news.

So I left it there, 2 1/2 miles off of Point Loma.

But I felt guilty coming back in, so I used my cell phone and called the San Diego Coast Guard station on the bay. NO way was I going to explain this on open channel 16 VHF.

Told the guy who picked up at the Coast Guard station that if someone reported seeing a body 2 miles out, it was really just a life-size blow-up doll.

He asked me if I retrieved it. I said, "would you bring it back to a public paunch ramp in an open-bow boat?"

He said, "I understand sir, thanks for calling it in, it may save us a rescue operation."

Yeah, I can picture the laughter in the station as he told everyone there about the phone call he just got.

Like I said, just plain bizarro.

Even funnier than a slide in camper floating next to a wooden spoon!

Isn't it funny how you go boating in such a big ocean, yet you always seem to be where the action is??? grin

Maybe some yachtsmen did not like her performance and made her walk the plank.

Maybe it's a new type LXIX flotation device?

(wonder if it's Coast Guard approved?)

I wonder what the ride is like on that inflatable?

Where's her PFD?

With her mouth open like that I'm surprised she didn't drown!

I picture a scenario where your boat goes down and you have to straddle her and paddle back to a crowded beach.

Troop is it true that you and your lover drifted apart?

english - she's a pfd AND packs two pfd's of her own. troop must have surprised her when he turned her over 'cause she looks shocked. not sure why he had lipstick on board to lend her, though.

I think Sting may be missing a prop..

Police - Be My Girl Sally Lyrics
Album: Outlandos D'amour

Won't you be my girl
Won't you be my girl
Won't you be my, be my,
Be my girl

I was blue and lonely, I couldn't sleep a wink
And I could only get unconscious if I'd had to much to drink.
There was somehow, something wrong somewhere,
And each day seemed grey and dead

The seeds of desperation were growing in my head.
I needed inspiration, a brand new start in life,
Somewhere to place affection, but I didn't want a wife.
And then by lucky chance I saw [in] a special magazine
An ad. that was unusual, the like I'd never seen,

"Experience something different with our new imported toy,
She's loving, warm, inflatable and a guarantee of joy."
She came all wrapped in cardboard, all pink and shrivelled down

A breath of air was all she needed to make her lose that frown.
I took her to the bedroom and pumped her with some life,
And later in a moment that girl became my wife.

And so I sit her in the corner and sometimes stroke her hair
And when I'm feeling naughty I blow her up with air
She's cuddly and she's bouncy, she's like a rubber ball,
I bounce her in the kitchen and I bounce her in the hall.
[And now my life is different since Sally came my way]
I wake up [in the] morning and have her on a tray
She's everything they say she was and I wear a permanent grin,
And I only have to worry in case my girl wears pins.

Won't you be my girl
Won't you be my girl
Won't you be my, be my,
Be my girl

If you were stranded out in the ocean treading water after your boat sank..... and this fine floatation unit came drifting by, you would think it was a gift from God.

Or not......

The problem is, that "fine floatation unit" needs to look more like one of these!

Hilarious troop, I loved the way you used the pictures in your story. The parting shot with mouth wide open in shock is priceless.

Not trying to be a prude. Heaven's knows that I appreciate the sight of scantly clad voluptuous beauties. However, I must make an attempt at keeping things consistent with the board’s rules.

It's a very subjective call. My concern is with inches and miles. Or the taking thereof. You know, slops tend to get very slippery rather quickly.

I knew this thread would end up needing closing. Some might argue that the time was with the very first posting. Others see nothing wrong with it.
