Wow, that's not your typical flats boat! Pretty deep cockpit, even for a bay boat. The folding T-top is an interesting concept -- I wonder how it will work after a few years.

I realize I'm opening the door for all sorts of remarks, but what's a "power pole"?

Without jumping at the possibilities, guessing that the power pole is the device seen in the first picture of the boat. Thinking it maybe anchors the boat in shallow waters???

Well, duh, why not just try Google? blush You were right on Jim.

"With the touch of a button, activate the quiet hydraulic action of the laboratory tested and Patented Power-Pole™ Extending up to six or eight feet below the surface of the water to penetrate the bottom using a durable composite spike. You stop quicker, quieter, and fish sooner. You “catch more fish”.

The Power-Pole™ will not only hold your boat securely in one place, but is strong enough to stop your boat even under extreme wind and current conditions. You’ll stay positioned right where you intended for as long as you want without having to worry about current, wind, or drift. With Power-Pole you are Swift. Silent. Secure"

It says 12" draft. Keep in mind that is floating draft, not runnning draft.

I agree with SeaVet. That design is not a flats boat. Better description would be inshore CC.

How much water to take off/hole shot and then run in?

Well the usual flats boats keep their holeshot draft down with a high power-to-weight ratio and a nearly flat bottom at the transom. Hard to be sure from the photos, but my guess is that this hull design has some V to it.

I have also seen some that have a sort of aft tunnel to feed water to a high mounted prop/engine to reduce the getting-on-plane draft.

Boats shaped like that take off in very little water.

Am I missing something here?

It's a hull, a liner, a few electronics, a few bucks worth of bent aluminum tube and an engine. For $87K MSRP? On sale for $57K?

It's no darn wonder that boat sales have stopped.

Velocity is a GFBL builder. Thus premium $$ for the same reasoning as Eliminator, Fountain, etc.
