Any interest in getting together for a BABC fall cruise in the WDC, Baltimore or Annapolis area? Maybe head to a restaurant for lunch?

The idea has floated around a few times, so lets make it happen!

I will be in southern MD the beginning of October. After that we are more able to move around the country. I would love to go however the boat will be winterized very soon. If we can go, may I bum a ride for the first time boating around DC?

We are available most weekends in October except the 25th.

OH, you are welcome to come with us.

For us, it will probably need to be a Sunday due to my younger daughter's soccer games on Saturday.

I am thinking that Annapolis would be fun, and Sandy Point has great launch facilities. Maybe we could do lunch at the restaurant that Seabuddy posted about, Carrol's Creek.

We would love to join you all on the cruise, but football and cheerleading practices/games consume us this time of year. We do have a couple of Sunday's free this football season, but it's quite a tow for us to Sandy Point (close to 2.5 hours) for just a day trip. We should plan a cruise for next year also, but a little earlier in the season. We'll also have the capability to overnight...we're planning on purchasing a camper canvas and bow/cockpit filler cushions this winter (my Christmas presents thumb)

Have fun and take/post some pix smile

With the cool weather this fall, maybe we should plan on early October?

Why don't we plan on the 12th with the 19th as a rain date?

GripB, if we were to cruise north to Baltimore or Rock Hall, would you be interested in putting in somewhere up the bay and meeting us for lunch?

Whoops! My admiral just came home and told me that she made plans with some of our friends from NC to visit us the weekend of the 11-12th.

How about the 19th with the 26th as a rain date?

My Mom told us tonight that she's tentatively scheduled to begin treatments (I mentioned her/our situation to Waywego @ Raystown) in Boston mid-end of October, so we're going to keep our activities/schedule clear. We'll have to meet up with you all another time. Have fun, and as I previously mentioned, take/post some pix.

Waywego, thanks for the consideration on moving the cruise a bit north...thumb

I am good for when ever except for the first weekend. The 12th is our anniversary so it may not be the best time to spend with our internet boating friends, even though you are all nice people.

Done. We are on for the 19th.

I do have to be back at home by 6pm, so need to be at the ramp by 3:30 or so.

Sunday lunch buffet at Carrol's Creek is from 10am to 1:30pm. I think we can make a reservation and probably ought to with a group of our size.

How about meeting at the Sandy Point ramp area at 10am? That would give us time to launch, head to Annapolis and maybe even cruise around a little bit. I am thinking a reservation for noon, and after lunch, a leisurly cruise to the Thomas Point lighthouse, and maybe stop by the Sandy Point and Baltimore lighthouses. If there is time, we can also explore the Magothy River area...

For some reason, I was thinking the Annapolis boat show was this weekend...

Well, how about a DC trip? usa2

C24SX doesn't even have to pull his boat out of the water thumb

If we leave from our normal ramp for a DC trip, we could either go upriver to see the DC sights (Mt Vernon, Ft Washington, Monuments) or downriver (ghost fleet). There are restaurants both directions, with a few good local seafood destinations downriver. Heading downriver, we might pick up a few other BABC members.

While the boat show being in Annapolis ties up the waterfront and restaurants, the highway has not been all that bad the past times I went. I have no idea what the Sandy Point ramps are going to be like. With OH coming down from the north, we may not have to rule this out -- just adjust the itinerary. We could head over to Rock Hall or to the Inner Harbor in Baltimore.

What do you guys think?

I like the idea of not having to pull the boat. The DC trip could go as follows:

Tentative Schedule:
9:00 to 9:30...Leave Occoquan
10:00ish...Brief stop at Mount Vernon for a little on water site seeing.
11:00 to Noonish...Arrive at Old Town Alexandria for Lunch (Union Street Public House) http://www.usphalexandria.com/
2:00ish...Leave Old Town for cruise up to Georgetown & Washington Harbor (Bolling AFB, National Airport, Anacostia Naval Station, Jefferson Memorial, Tidal Basin, Lincoln Memorial, Kennedy Center, Watergate, Theodore Roosevelt Island and as far as Key Bridge)
3:30ish...Leave Georgetown for cruise by the new Peterson Cos. Development http://www.nationalharbor.com/
4:00ish...Head back to Marina
5:00ish...Arrive back at the Occoquan

Sounds OK to me, but we would have to be back in the no-wake zone by 3:00 pm...

OH, can you get to Occoquan by 9am?

Waywego, you could stay with us for lunch and head back during the Georgetown portion of the trip to get you back in time. I just PM'd OH to see if he was interested in coming down Saturday for the Power Boat Show in Annapolis and spending the night for the cruise on Sunday. Any interest? My birthday is the 14th so I probably have a little more pull with the Admiral than usual. Making the two day boating extravaganza possible for me.

Saturday at the boat show sounds wonderful, but my younger daughter has a soccer game and I promised not to miss any more...

We may try to go to the show on Friday, but I have not asked my admiral if she is interested yet. We are half heartedly looking at boats that are better suited for overnight and extended trips.

I don't see why we can't, I can always get a hotel the night before so we can relax and not rush getting down there by 9. I will be making reservations as soon as I get done with this.

I just made hotel reservations in the Potomac Mills/ Woodbridge area so we should have no trouble getting there by 9AM. One time we relied on our 10 month old to get us up, as he usually does every morning at 6. Well.. he decided to sleep in himself and we all over slept. This time I will be setting the alarm.

I have an aunt and uncle and some cousins that live in the Woodbridge area so we will probably leave early Saturday morning and spend time with them and then crash at the hotel.

I just need to know what marina/ ramp to meet you at.

This may even be more exciting than Raystown.

We launch out of Occoquan Regional Park and Cobalt24SX keeps their boat in a slip at Hoffmasters. By the road, they are 10-15 minutes apart, but only 5 by water.
