oh yeah.. A threeee hour tour. Glad the weather didn't start getting rough, and have your tiny ship tossed.
LB Did you get your boat prep'd for this trip or have you done much coastal boating in the past, and already had the radar and stuff?
I did all the prep work my self over a couple of months including both impellers. Out drive was pulled and inspected due to rattle and coupler was replaced 25 hours ago. Replaced all my fuel and water lines. Tightened every screw and clamp I could find. First time off shore with my boat but have been out before and I never run from the monsoons that happen around here. My boat is nmea certified for coastal cruising. I have taken classes on radar and course plotting, o and of course made sure insurance was paid up. I have had the radar for a year and have traveled from Davis dam to hoover dam many times in the dark learning to use the radar and gps. We had updated charts along with "offshore navigator plus" uploaded to my chart plotter. I included ditch bag with rented epirb (thanks to DEEPV) along with inflatable raft, flairs and assorted stuff in case of trouble. Going across in the dark we traveled at 8-10 mph's due to the heavy traffic and possible whales. I had been preparing for this trip for a couple of years as far as learning and buying everything I would need and due to my recent illness it gave me much more time to study and prepare. As fun as it was and easy don't take my carefree sense as the real me. My job requires that I be first aid, first responder, and has-mat certified and I take safety to the @!@# retentive point. The only trouble we had was kelp around the drive but my smartcraft saw a drop in water pressure and sounded a alarm and the toilet quit. Hard to believe guys would plug it up. When we lost water pressure we were 25 yards from land and we dropped bow and stern anchors asap, shut down and cleaned the kelp off and everything was fine except needing to close to two harbors for access to facities as I had very old guy with me. (LOL) Ready to do it again. Hope to see you all in october. I will be out of town th 20th to the 26th. BTW the boat has handeld the worst monsoons with any problems and has allowed me to escort a few open bow boats to safety out here.

That's the reason I asked. I know you live far from the coast yet you seemed so prepared for the trip, and confident on the night crossing. EEK!
Didn't mean for the post to sound like you were being careless at all. I was wondering if you pull to the coast often, or at least had several times before.

I am use to long trips towing as I enjoy lake powell and I get to pull around back-hoe and dozer at work, but I will tell you the 605 can make me feel like a sardine stuck in a can!

You're welcome. It is nice to know that you have that on board even if you don't use it. Makes for a rather quick rescue if you get into rough conditions and start to take on water or worse yet, start sinking.

It only came to mind once when I got kelp rap around my drive and the alarm went off. Dropped anchors fast and removed it. No damage to impeller.
