well, this 'submarine' stuff at least tells us that in an effort to get the usual "$8-million worth of coke" smuggled across the border they are now risking a $1-million sub.
That seems like a very high ratio of risk to gain to me for something that is so visible to the 'good guys.' In days of old they'd risk a 12 year old burro to do the same.
Add that to the fact that our neighbors here in Baja are living in a sharply esculating urban gunfire zone due to pressured drug dealers.

deepv - Ah, you probably think Prohibition was a waste of resources as well as leading to an increase in organized crime. Hey, wait a minute...

ps Pot is a gateway drug. No denying it. Legalize it, tax it and sell it through government stores. Keep it out of the hands of minors as much as possible, like liquor. Right now it is easier for my high school daughter to get than booze (and I don't just mean skimming off of dad's stash).
The new influx of taxes might even pay off this bailout of rich bankers, brokers and insurance company execs who made poor fiscal decisions.
My understanding is that the drug-runners pretty much tell us which shipments we can "catch" (something like 1 out of 4) so that it apears we are more successful in the war on drugs.
