Seems excessive. Both trannys replaced with less than 900 hours on them?

Al, you're a Carver guy, do all these repairs seem a bit extreme?

That being said, I really like the boat. I could get used to living on that...

It's odd that he refers to them as upgrades and enhancements instead of some of them being repairs. Maybe he is just paranoid and believes in serious preventative maintenance.

$7000 for 2 water pumps, some wire, hoses and clamps?

The only pumps AT ALL that I could find anywhere for around $1800 are high pressure, gas powered pumps capable of 7000 gallons per hour (that's 117 gallons per MINUTE) at 144 psi....Jus' a wee bit more than a boat needs?

Almost sounds like the boat is a salvage rebuild... idn

If its the one that I am aware of, it's been used and abused.

Put away "wet" as they might say... wink

As far as the broker that has the listing goes, I'll just bite my tongue... pc

One FBI clue might be his spelling of "V-Birth". ouch

Yeah, notice the strategically placed access plates in the stringers?

Open them up to access the underside of the engines for service/repairs.

Someone was thinking!

Looks like they are to access the bolts for the engine mounts. I wonder why they did not use captive hardware...

This is the first I saw this thread. I don't think that this is necessarily an issue with Carver as many of the items listed are third party; air conditioners, water pumps, or what have you. I think replacing all of those things are more of a indication of abuse than anything else.

Don't think you can judge the quality of any boat brand by one example of what needed to be done or what wanted to be done (replaced all of the hose clamps?).

One should re-align inboards and their trannies/running gear after each haul-out. Its a feeler gauge check if they have not shifted, and a cheap adjustment (but often sweaty) if they did become mis-aligned from the haul-out.

Short tranny life often can be traced to mis-alignment.

Watch a good tech do it once and then do-it-yourself each time there after.
