This is what it's saying so far, but we will have a better idea tomorrow.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY

A STRONG STORM SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO DIVE SOUTH OUT OF CANADA AND
SETTLE INTO THE SOUTHERN GREAT BASIN LATE IN THE WEEK AND OVER THE
WEEKEND. THIS STORM WILL BRING STRONG WINDS...MUCH COOLER
TEMPERATURES...AND CHANCES FOR VALLEY RAIN AND MOUNTAIN SNOW TO
THE MOJAVE DESERT AND SOUTHERN GREAT BASIN FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY.

It seems to be getting worse with each passing hour now the nws has posted this.

Issued by The National Weather Service
Las Vegas, NV
4:53 pm MST, Tue., Oct. 7, 2008

... A MAJOR CHANGE TO THE WEATHER WILL BE SEEN LATE THIS WEEK AND INTO THE WEEKEND...

A STRONG PACIFIC STORM IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP AND MOVE INTO THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST ON THURSDAY AND THEN SOUTH INTO THE GREAT BASIN FRIDAY AND SATURDAY. ALTHOUGH SHOWERS WILL BE SEEN... THE MAIN AFFECTS OF THIS SYSTEM WILL BE WINDS AND COOLER TEMPERATURES.

WINDS WILL BEGIN TO INCREASE THURSDAY AFTERNOON... BUT STRONGEST WINDS WILL BE SEEN FRIDAY AND SATURDAY. SOUTHWEST WINDS AHEAD OF THE COLD FRONT ASSOCIATED WITH THIS STORM WILL DEVELOP FRIDAY WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF DOWNSLOPE WINDS DEVELOPING ACROSS THE SOUTHERN SIERRA. WIND GUSTS TO 35 MPH OR HIGHER ARE LIKELY ACROSS MUCH OF THE AREA FRIDAY AFTERNOON... WHILE NORTH WINDS WILL BE SEEN ON SATURDAY BEHIND THE FRONT.

THE COLD FRONT ASSOCIATED WITH THIS STORM IS EXPECTED TO MOVE THROUGH THE AREA LATE FRIDAY NIGHT AND SATURDAY WHICH WILL ALLOW FOR A DRAMATIC DROP IN TEMPERATURES FROM THE HIGHS EXPECTED WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY. HIGH TEMPERATURES ON SATURDAY WILL LIKELY BE IN THE 50S TO LOW 60S ACROSS CENTRAL NYE... LINCOLN AND MUCH OF INYO COUNTIES... WHILE UPPER 60S TO LOW 70S WILL BE SEEN IN THE SOUTHERN PORTION OF THE DISTRICT. AT THE SAME TIME... OVERNIGHT LOWS WILL BE DROPPING TO THE LOWEST READINGS OF THE SEASON WITH MANY READINGS WELL BELOW FREEZING BY SUNDAY MORNING ACROSS CENTRAL NEVADA.

ALTHOUGH THE WINDS AND COLDER TEMPERATURES WILL BE THE MAIN WEATHER CONCERN WITH THIS STORM... RAIN AND SNOW SHOWERS ARE EXPECTED ESPECIALLY ACROSS THE SOUTHERN SIERRA AND CENTRAL NEVADA FRIDAY NIGHT AND SATURDAY. AMOUNTS ARE EXPECTED TO BE LIGHT HOWEVER... BUT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF A FEW INCHES MAY BE SEEN BEFORE THE STORM LEAVES THE AREA ON SUNDAY.

Loren - it's your call. If you want to cancel that's okay by me. I'll likely bail out too. Whaaah!

It's not like you're going to Catalina. Mohave is a mile wide at the widest point. You can hang out in a cove and have a pretty good time even with weather like that and in 26 foot cruisers like you've got you can even go for a nice boat ride.

DeepV, normally you are correct but I did a treatment this week and my doctor has reminded me to be careful out in bad weather. It's been predicted at 25+ wind with temps in the mid 60's and snow level at 5000'. It just does not sound like fun too me at all, and I am going on a road trip to eureka, cal in two weeks and I would hate to get sick, I don't know, I am going to check again in the morning and see. The weather people around here are getting pretty excited about this storm. frown

<hehe> Not yet. I'd love to go! Buuuut, I'm not crazy about 25 MPH winds and cool temps. Laughlin forecast calls for a HIGH of 72 deg on Sat and a low of 52. What are you hearing?

Yahoo forecast for Bullhead City
============================================================
Today: Sunny and windy. High 93F. Winds SW at 20 to 30 mph. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph.

Tonight: Generally clear. Low 68F. Winds WSW at 15 to 25 mph.

Tomorrow: Plentiful sunshine. High 84F. NW winds shifting to SW at 10 to 20 mph.

Tomorrow night: A few clouds from time to time. Low 61F. Winds SW at 10 to 20 mph.

Saturday: Partly cloudy. Highs in the low 70s and lows in the mid 50s.

Sunday: Sunshine. Highs in the mid 70s and lows in the upper 50s.

Monday: Mainly sunny. Highs in the low 80s and lows in the low 60s.
============================================================

Local forecast this morning is calling for 10deg drop and breezy for the next few days.

It's a tuff call, but it's also a long tow for iffy weather.
I'm heading out there either way because we had already planned to go out to our house to take care of a few things.

If I were going out just for the boating, I don't think I'd do it. I don't mind being out in the wind, because I love being on the boat, but not too much fun for my wife or others.

You know, if we go out it'll be windy and cold. If we don't, it will be still and in the 80's. smile
It's just how things work. frown
